Refinishing luggage door latches?

Anybody had these refinished?
Every one on our coach is sunburnt like this.
I was thinking of powdercoat, but in the AZ desert it would not take long before it looks like this again.

They appear to be aluminum, but I did not have a magnet with me to check. If so, maybe just polish?

Or maybe chrome? Prolly $50/piece, but it should outlast me...

Too bad you didn't get a bunch of helpful replies! This is on our list to look at.
So far we have come up with two thoughts - one is to remove the paint and leave them raw aluminum, the other is to spray paint them either black or aluminum.
We haven't looked to see how easy it is to get them off and then back on...
It's getting nearer the top of the list though.
