Now you have made me feel guilty. Yes I built all the cabinets that I talked about and did promise to post pictures but haven't. So I'll try to post these pictures in a couple of weeks.

By the way, the cabinets are working out great. I've in the process ( probably take several weeks to complete) of replacing the magazine rack at the side of the counter nearest the sink with a door. magazine rack has been removed and the area in behind is now used for storage. But I haven't attached the door.

Also some of you may be interested in this. When I first drove the m/h I was appalled at the lack of sun control from the visors on the front windows. So took the visors apart (easyto do) and replaced the pressboard with one about a foot wider and several inches in height, added some thin foam and covered with vynal/leather material. (made a pattern for my wife and she sewed this up in half an hour.) Reinstalled the visors and they now are the length of the window from side to side excluding the place where the mirror is. In hindsite I should have just removed the mirror and made them wider. But they sure have been a godsend for 2 years now. Cost about $20. And yes I'll include pictures of this as well.

Aww, don't feel guilty.
This is one idea I've wanted to do for awhile….and it always helps to see how others tackled the same idea. I think we would gain a lot of storage from this one modification.

I had the same visor problem, but didn't think of your excellent solution. I had the darkest tint available installed across the top of front window and on the top of the two driver's compartment windows. the strip is about 8 inches high and it does an excellent job of blocking the sun, but i can still see stop lights through the tint.

As an aside, I put my WBCCI numbers on the outside of the front window and over the tint. Really makes them stand out.

OK folks. I've read the instructions, found the pictures, so here I go.

These are the wider sunvizors that I love.




These are the cupboards that my wife loves.
Remember that I scrounged around for the surplus doors. Some were new but most were used. These were best sizes that would fit. The cabinets were made by me in my workshop. All exterior wood is oak where it will be seen. The handles were removed from the cupboards in the bedroom so that both new and existing cupboard door handles would match and new handles were added to the bedroom cupboards. The hardest cabinet to make was the bedroom corner cabinet. Depth of sides is 6" but from the door to the rear corner of the cabinet is 15". This was the maximum size that would fit that space with the sliding door removed. (We never used the door anyway.) And the door had to clear the corner of the bed.

Cabinet used for medicines. the shelves are spaced close together to accommadate the small bottles.




Cabinets that went under the table. About 6 inches deep with adjustable shelves.




Bathroom cabinet. handle is to one side because (a) it was a used door and (b) it needed to be here so it wouldn't rest on the toilet cover. And yes, the door is wider than cabinet because of "a".




And last we have the bedroom corner cabinet.

Wow, thanks for posting the pictures. You do nice work & created so much usable storage. I'm interested in the cabinets under the kitchen table. Any additional information on how you secured them? (to the wall?) Using surplus doors was brilliant! Why didn't I think of that?

Wow, I'm jealous of the skill set and the results. We pulled the old tv out of the bedroom, and a cabinet may be a reasonable replacement, but not with my skills.

My wife needed more vanity counter space so I added a fold-up/down shelf, used a wooden tray that happened to fit, and has a lip on the sides.

I also added one of these next to the sink that folds down over the magazine rack (holds cutting boards) for more prep space. I don't have any photos of that yet.

I also upgraded the tv to a 26" HD & Blu-ray with a small audio upgrade to 2.1.

Sorry to take so long getting back to your questions.

I think that the cabinets problaby added a couple of hundred lbs in total. bht that was OK with us. we don't travel with more than 1/4 tank of fresh water and try to keep the gray and black tanks almost empty. When I travelled with my 30 ft trailer it was never overloaded .( we weighed it regularily) with the added capacity of the m/h, we still only take along the same stuff. As for the contents of the additional cabinets, this is just the stuff that we stored in the shower or under the table on the floor.

If you know how to make a basic bookshelve than you can make these cabinets. Just add a plywood veneer panel to the back. The cabinets under the table and the cabinet in the washroom and the corner cabinet in the bedroom are sitting in a ledge so all you need to do is put 3 or 4 screws 3/4 inch wood screws into the wall to hold the cabinet upright. The cabinet ( medicine) is held up by using 4 hollow door anchors thru the veneer and into the wall.

The hardware is all standard stuff. I used Home depo as my main source.

I know you posted these pics of your cabinet work a couple of years ago, but I just found the thread. Great job on your handy work! I'm in the process of adding a couple of under table cabinets in my 05 LY and your pics and DIY has really helped. Your posts have helped many in the quest for a better AS.
