New Member with Land Yacht Questions

hello everybody ! I am the proud owner of a 94 as land yacht 33 motorhome. I have a question , which im sure more will come . I cant locate the fresh water tank drain .I also was wondering why there is a difference in the headlight configuration? Iv seen 95s with the headlights in lower grill and iv seen 94s with the headlights above the grill . When did they switch?

Welcom, bertha94. You have found a great source for Airstream motorhome related information. Don't hesitate to ask. WELCOME!!

Consider joining WBCCI. The Region 5 rally will be in September at the Springfield fair grounds. This is always a great gathering.

thankyou

I pLan on getting involved as soon as this nasty winter goes away . Picture posting soon! . I picked her up in eustis Florida .69000 miles and a little bit not much water damage (skylights).. drove her all the way to bloomington il. Got stuck in Tennessee on Sunday from the bad weather that past through . Then made it to Kentucky on Route 24 which was 1 lane full of snow and ice . traveling 25 mph for about 150 miles while my teeth were rattling in my head .Once we hit illinois . We saw the light! Roads were clear and I put the hammer down running 75 the rest of the way home..

Dam you had some tough weather. Those skylights are pretty easy to change.

Bertha94:

Welcome to the forum. Yes there is very much to learn and good that you arrived safely. Now there is no such thing as a "little" water damage. Suggest you do a thorough inspection of the roof, looking at the seals for everything up top. On mine I scraped the seals from everything up there including fan vents, pipes, skylights etc and resealed everything. For the skylights especially look at the mounting screws, if they are rusted, there was a leak. I replaced the original #6 with the next size up with #8 stainless. Also found puncture hole from something that fell on the roof .

Suggest you also become intimately familiar with your Auto Apply Park Brake (AAPB) as your tranny does not have a parking pawl (as in cars) and has been a source of much irritation for some. Not sure if you have the J71 AAPB unit or not.
To answer your original question re fresh water tank, if you have a queen bed in center of BR, you will find 3 valves there, one for fresh, one for city, one for hot. Also the AC c/b panel a water pump and city water pressure regulator.

Good Luck

Steve

Don't park under nut trees in the fall, have had problems with walnut and hickory nuts that the sqirrels throw at the AS or wind and gravity aim at the delicate parts of the roof. Best thing to do is open every closet, cupboard, draw, panel, storage locker and note the strange things located within. I have found switches, valves, fuses, lights, keys in places that they shouldn't be by logic. Climb the ladder and do an inspection of the roof, noting as said by Steve any screws with rust. Next get a creaper or large piece of cardboard and do a complete survey of the bottom. Amazing what you will find, I found a squirrel tail hanging from the chassis and a petrified carcass attached. it was long dead but a good reminder to look at all wires to see if you can find chew places, much easier to repair before they cause a problem.
By the way welcome to the group

The drain under the bed is quite small and very slow to drain. I would suggest using your outside faucet with water pump, its a lot faster. As far as the change in headlights, that might be the year they changed 1995. Did you buy the Zephyr from Bob in Florida? Also, welcome to the Forum.

bertha94, if you go to Fred's Archive Airstreams, he has a listing of each years models with pictures. I have noticed the same year LY's headlights can be different between gas and diesel models. 1996 through 1999 gas headlights are lower. 2000 through 2005 LY's were back up higher again. I don't know why they keep changing back and forth, but from my own experience and others on here neither position are very good at night.

Inside the dump station door, to the right of the valves. Nice looking MH, congratulation on getting the Zephyr. Bob seemed like a nice guy.
