Need Some Advice From Those Who Know!
Hi!
I am new to the forum. I am looking at buying a 2000 Land Yacht 350XL. the unit has about 111,111 kms, 35ft. It looks like it was well maintained, but I have never bought a motorhome before so am not too sure what to look for.
Could you provide me with some insight as to what to, if any, visable signs I should look for and any specific questions I should ask, based on your experience?
I am totally excited about being able to join the ranks and have some fun, but admit I am out of my comfort zone here and not sure what to ask.
Thank you for your help in advance!!

With that many miles, how many owners has it had, and does it have all the maintenance records that have been performed, and what is the coach needing at present, such items as tires brakes, batteries ,engine & transmisssion services. Does everything work properly, appliances, water pump and heater, electronics etc. Has it ever had any accident damage and a very important question to ask is: are there any water issues? such as leaking roof or windows and have these been regularly sealed and maintained. Don't just take the sellers word for it, look around for any signs of damage repairs or water stains inside unit, or delamination in the outside fiberglas surface. There is a lot to look for, but these are some of the main things. One good thing is that with the miles this coach has the owner is using it, and if he's using it, that could be a good indication that he has been also maintaining it.
Last but not least, be careful not to rush into anything...look and compare, there are a lot of good used coaches for sale.

i bought my moho just 2 years ago, & it was my first purchase. gloran has put a great list together, and let me suggest that you ask the seller where it has been serviced , then go toalk to the servicing mechanics. They may/may not tell you everything they know about it, but you can also look for signs of their competence. My seller had the roof re-sealing done, but didn't have the receipt, one of the few he did not have. His service people did have the date, and also additonal info. If the unit is not close to you, try the inspection references offered on the front page of this website, or even look for someone local who has experience to isnpect with you for a small fee, dinner, or similar.
Then watch like a hawk after you buy: I found a small intermittent shower leak that was not noticed by the seller or the repair/service people.
It's a home: houses always need maintenance, and a house on wheels has more dynamic forces than the static ones we live in, so expect it to need more attention. It's all worth it, though.

Upon one of your inspection visits, ask the seller to show you everything and to turn on the AC, run the water, demonstrate the tank gauges and battery monitor work, leveling jacks function, etc. Basically, everything that has a switch, knob or gauge. Look on the walls just under all of the windows for evidence of water leaks as well as around the door and ceiling vents and AC. Any signs of leakage will require further inspection. Take it for a drive through the neighborhood and onto the freeway at cruising speed.
Good luck. We're not trying to scare you, just trying to keep you from getting a moho lemon.

Everyone has made good suggestions. I have one more - take a flashlight with you. You can then see into corners, drawers and under sinks etc. Have fun shopping!
