Landyacht 26

Am considering buying a 26 Landyacht. Let me hear pros and cons. Is an Class A this small a looser? Only two of us will use it. Mostly business travel.

It really depends on what you need and how you're going to use it. I started with an Airstream trailer, swithced to an SOB MH, and came back to another Airstream trailer.

The motorhome was ideal when the kids were small, and most of our trips were 1 or 2 night weekends opportunites.

The trailers worked better for us for longer (like a full week) trips - it's nice to be able to set up camp and then have the truck for driving around without having to pick up camp.

If you're mostly going to a different camp site every night, the motorhome would save the hitching up process.

It seems like most motorhomes are pulling a vehicle anyway. Probably just personal preference about what you'd rather pull. I like the trailer/truck approach, because I can get a newer truck from time to time without having to pay for the living quarters again.

I really liked the 26' Landyacht - it just depends on how much space you want.

Knowing the year and model would also be helpful. Airstreams get wider as they get older, much like people. Anyway we have a 1968 26' Overlander Land Yacht and we love it. Sometimes we even think it might be too BIG! There are only two of us as well, plus German Shorthair Pointer. I wouldn't call it a loser unless it is in disrepair and would cost too much to fix it.

Similar to real estate but the location is variable.

A good deal is gone in the blink of an eye.

A bad deal leaves plenty of time for regret.

26 feet is not to small. We traveled for 14 years in a 26 foot GMC pulling a VW behind. Depending on the floor plan, there could be plenty of room and
its small size allows you in most National Parks (limit is 28 Ft).
Hint, get a dry bath. When you can take a good shower, everythig else is easier to live with. If you can't, look for one that you can shower in.

I recently purchased a 2006 30' LY, but seriously considered the 26'. The 26' would have been great for two people, but we were towing a 7 year old daughter and a golden retriever and liked the privacy of a bedroom in the 30'. When the 7 yr. old hits college, we may just downsize tho. good luck in your decision........
