Horn blows unintentionally

I have a 2003 AS LY Gas. Last night 2:00 AM, I was awaken with the horn blowing constantly. Scared the h--- out of me and DW and dog. I quickly pulled the fuse. Has this happend to anyone else. Any thoughts whay may have caused this delima? In 70 years of life, this is a first for me. Thanks.

Steve, I can't give you any specific AS advice but generally a problem such as this ends up being either a faulty horn relay or bad horn switch. Sometimes these are affected by changes in temperatures.

i've had cars do that in very cold weather. it might be caused be shrinking or expansion in the horn button. if you disconnect the trigger wire and it stops, the problem is between the button and your disconnect point. just note that if you just disconnect the horn, (i know you pulled the fuse, so it doesn't apply to you) the relay will still be activated and drawing power.

I had this happen on a truck,
The horn that you push on might be bent / out of square.
The metal contacts seem to be bent, and blew the fuse . I pulled the switch off the steering wheel and just bent it back in place
Worked for me.

Here is my dilema. At 02:00 AM my horn started blowing steady. I was not fully awake and in my stupor I smacked the steering wheel. It stopped.

I then pulled the fuse in case it wants a repeat and the neighbors call the cops on me. I can't put the fuse back because I don't know if it will repeat and I can't take that chance that it won't.

I understand it may require removal of the horn ring. Has anyone had this experience? Does anyone know the steps for removing the horn ring and steering wheel because I'm thinking I would like to repair this condition myself. That $95.00 per hour stuff is hard on the wallet. BTW, this is a 2002 AS LY (Gas) Thank you.

Back in my old VW days that used to be a problem. if I remember correctly the wire ran down the steering column, right through the middle and if it shorted out (went to ground completing the circuit) the horn would go off. I don't know if that is the same problem you have. But have you been able to look closer at why it went off in the first place? Loose bushing or plastic insulator???

Call TAPS. They will come and investigate your paranormal problem. And while they are there, they can handle all of your plumbing problems(ROTO-ROOTER)

To explain better, my horn was bet, out of square, out of plum
it was in the steering wheel,
I drove this thing from 51 miles till 149,000 miles and never knew --some how I bent . pushed too hard , pushed out of square the horn.
so I pulled everything and looked at it at "rest" So when the horn is sprung up/ "at rest", the contacts should not touch, if a contact touches the ground, then something is not lined up right.
keep looking at it NOT as you took it apart but as it might work correctly,

I don't know what type of horn button you have on your LY, but my '96 Dodge has a thumb button on each side of the steering wheel. The right side tends to hang up when pressed. A couple of weeks ago, just as the sun reached the interior, the horn magically sounded loud and long. Fortunately I was only a few feet away in the trailer and used my great technical skills to remedy the situation-- I hit the right side of the wheel really hard with the heel of my hand. I assume that after a cold night, as the sun hit the wheel the expansion caused the contact. I keep intending to clean it up and apply some silicone spray lube, but when it isn't a problem I tend to forget it. I'm writing myself a reminder before I send this!

Who's chassic is the motor home on? The horn and it's related components were installed by the chassic manufacture. If you post the manufacture I may have wireing diagrams.
