Heat and A/C question P-30 chassis

Put in new antifreeze and while checking system by putting on the heat to circulate the fluids, saw a leak out of dash a/c over the battery, checked freon lines going into it and they were cold, and sweating. The leak turned out to be condensate. Question is why is the a/c on when switched to heat and working hard to remove humidity from 85 degree air? Is it normal for a/c to be on when dash switch shows heat position?

Can't speak for sure about your coach but many cars run the A/C with the defroster to clear the wind shield. Is you defroster switch partially on?

In general on many automotive systems, the cooling side works, and the heating side works, and a blend door mixes hot and cold air to achieve the desired temperature. In addition to reduce humidity and window fogging, all air is first run through the cold side to dehumidify it. So, what you have seen is normal for how the systems were designed.

Checked dash switch, on include a setting for floor, mix, or defrost.
I had put it on mix thinking it was above defrost and not using a/c didn't know about the blending using it.
