GaryPK.....just wondering how your cabinet project came out. In my 97 LY diesel pusher I find those storage cabinets over the drivers area to be almost useless. Wanted to put DVD's in it but because of the curbed inside, they would not stand up and had to be put on side. Needless to say whenever you open the door they fall out.

And...while on the subject of cabinets. As big as this RV is, none of the storage cabinets are tall enough set a bottle of scotch upright. Only cabinets tall enough are under the sink by the trash can or in a clothes closet. Lately just resorted to refilling my pint bottles as needed

Any advice would be appreciated.

Overhead cabinet

Sorry I never responded, but here goes: I made a new end to replace the tattered entry wall of the dinette. The top cabinet was rotten on 1 end so I took it back down & made a new front. I'm replacing the cabinet over the entry with a subwoofer & installing a stereo system w/amps which will go behind a front I'm making to replace where the old TV was. Also putting in a rear camera. Time to put it back together for spring camping!

Thanks for posting the pics. Nice to see how the stuff goes together.
Our 96 LY30 is almost exactly the same in the cab area. Except our autopark switch is just to the left of the 9 switches in the dash.

If I could ask, where is your autopark switch?

Ours has not yet started leaking, but I am also re-sealing/replacing the front marker lights as a pre-emptive strike...

If you need any replacement (or new) switches, I found a source a couple weeks ago. I'm putting some up-angled useful gauges (Oil T, Oil P, Tranny T, Coolant T) where the switches are, and relocating the switches to the plastic trim just underneath the fake wood grain. I'm also putting the subwoofer in where the tube type TV was, with a double din car stereo/gps/backup camera near the top of the existing enclosure.

Hm. Maybe we should start a thread on LY dash changes.

Thanks for the photos. I am making changes to the interior now. First was to get rid of all the brass tarnished handles and go with the new brushed chrome similar to whats in the 2016 AS Classic.

Next I plan to remove the flimsy plywood inside the front cabinets over the driver and replace with a curved piece of lineolum that will allow DVD cases to stand on end.

Third is to get the old 19"tv out of the front slot. Got a great idea from an RV guy recently who used an adjustable articulating arm, normally used for adjustable PC monitors, that clamps to edge of a desktop. It will go into the slot and mount on the rear of the existing wood cabinet. New 28" TV will mount to it and during travel will be pushed up to the hole opening and held in place with Velcro. Its also got a built in DVD player so no need for another piece of equipment. When stopped simply pull it forward and adjust for viewing angle. Rear of compartment will be covered with black cloth to cover wires and adjustable arm. Will post photos when finished.

overhead cabinet

So here's what I did. Changed to no cabinet overhead, replaced the headliner under the panel, also the section over the cab area, replaced tv with amps for sound system, new a/v head unit mounted in a beach scene panel, took out cabinet over entry & make a subwoofer to replace. New speakers front & rear.

Where the 3 subwoofers are....is that the narrow cabinet over the side door?

That cabinet is where I keep all the flashlights and my gloves. Quick access before going out the door. Thanks for posting the photos. I got my old TV out and replaced it with a 28" flatscreen with built in DVD player. Its mounted on an articulating arm and fastened with Velcro to keep from shaking while driving. Will post photos when I finish the trim.

Question

Yes it is over the door. We didn't use that cabinet for much so no loss. We don't watch much TV, not much reception in the mountains here anyway. If we want to see something we use phones or laptops. Which reminds me I'm trying to find a good way to charge things straight from the house batteries (no inverter & direct wired, no cig lighter receptacles) if any one knows.....
