Red face Buzzing sound when I start engine??

OK, I've owned my 2005 30 LY mh for 2 years now. On startup there is this buzzing noise. Not sure what it is trying to tell me. Have tried seat belts fastened, parking brake off. Must be telling me something but what I don't know. ?????

It may be the auto park feature - does it clear when you shift to drive?

No. It buzzes for 5 seconds and quits.

We have a small electric compressor under the hood to power the air horns. Could it be that?
Where does the sound come from? inside under the dash or under the hood?

Don't have electric air horns; just a regular horn. Sound comes from the dash. Come on folks. Surely I haven't got the only late model 30 LY with this feature. Let's hear from the 2000 to 2005 LY 30 owners please.

If it's a Ford Chassis, it would be the brake booster starting up.

My 2004 does the exact same thing; I have no idea why. The buzzing sound comes from a gray box behind the steering column; photo attached.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Randy

I have a 2004 LY. As I stated before, it's probably the auto brake. The auto brake is applied by placing the shift lever in the park position. After you start the vehicle and shift from park a pump pressurizes the auto brake system resulting in releasing the brake. This action takes a few seconds. The auto brake is probably the most troublesome part of the workhorse chassis.

I don't believe that to be the function of the buzzing in question, as what you describe is a secondary, and very different sound, after the rig is put in reverse or drive.

Glad to be of some help, or at least, reassurance. Hey, I wondered myself, "what is this buzzer and what does it mean". I just rationalized it by thinking, "every time I pull the trigger" (metaphorically), "Christine" fires up and runs perfectly, so there isn't a problem. Hopefully, together we may learn from others, the relevancy of the 5 second buzzer.

Best regards and safe travel to all,
Randy, Pam & 🐕

I think I just solved the mystery. Went back and read the ( now wait for it) directions. Well maybe not the directions but the manual for the WorkHorse chassis. In the console description it indicates that in some instances not only will you get a light on the dash console but you will also hear a buzzing noise to alert you. So I guess what we are hearing is the startup check of the console lights and the buzzer. Now it makes sense to me.

OK, so now I have to "read direction"? Next thing you know, I'll have to look at maps........ this represents the destruction of the male animal. So, my wife wins and I lose, as now I should read directions and look at maps..... OK, I can adjust.

But seriously, thanks for the update......
