Allison Transmission

New problem:
Selector won't select FOWARD.
After sitting for 5 months it won't shift into Forward. Last fall we had the shift senors replaced by the Allison Dealer in GA and drove 150 miles home, now this!
Backwards works fine, but I'm not backing it out of the barn unless I can get it back in. Anybody else ever have this happen?

On my former truck, if it had sat for a long time, there was very long time shifting into gear. I had to sit with the engine idling for a while and then it worked just fine. Current truck has never had that problem.

Thanks John,
In fact my coach sat for everal months and I discovered this when I started it.
I let it idle for about 15 minutes and it shifted it into the Reverse just fine, but not Forward. I'll try it again as soon as tomorrow's snow is gone.
I'm ready for SPRING! and a few road trips in the old Airstream.
Paul

Stuck Allison

I wrote to Allison and they had a knowledgeable guy call me an check shift codes (Done buy pushing on both up and down arrow on the shift selector
simultaneously) It showed the problem and the codes were cleared and we're off again to test it out.
What I learned was tha there are grease fittings on the drive shaft and if the people who serviced it forgot to grease them, the gear selection sensor will malfunction. Have you greased your U joints?
