'93 Land Yacht 30

Hi everyone,

I am fairly new to RVing and am looking at a nice '93 30 foot Land Yacht

MH. Gas power with a 454. How in your collective experience have you found
build quality and reliability of this vintage?

Thanks in advance!

Mark

We are here to help, but your question is too general, and this is camping season.

Try the search on this site, and most information you want will be here.
Land Yacht/Legacy Motorhomes - Airstream Forums

Good luck on your search for an Airstream.

Dave

I have not decided. I'm going to go have a look next week.

I didn't get that much input here so I'll follow my instincts about it.

93

Your question may have been to general. I am looking at a 94 so searched a few of the forums here and elsewhere for airstream land yacht 93, , 94, 95. A lot of information popped up. Some tidbits I found:

Quality coach, but at this age it is more important how it has been maintained.

Water damage is common.

"parking brake" device seems to pop up often as a topic.

There was a fridge recall for RVs in this age I think. A replaced fridge would be good.

Look at tire age rather than miles.

A few reports of gasket issues with the Chevy 454. But hey, if your engine is 19 years old new belts, hoses, gaskets might be something wise to do.

All of the above is NOT based in my own experience. Just browsing this and other forumse. So it is second hand information, discount it as you wish but I hope you find it helpful.

I guess maybe I was a little broad with the question but it was on
purpose.
I was trying to feel out overall are owners happy with the
LY or would they recommend them to a friend?
Every brand and model has it specific problems.
Would those who have one buy another?
I'm going to check out another with the Cummins/Allison driveline
I think it's more appropriate for anything larger than a midsize class c anyway.

Thanks again

Mark.
