No, SO is correct, stands for slide out. Comes right from the Airstream literature. But I'm ok with SL also. Just curious to know how many were made. It seems like the prices on them are starting to go up. How about that?

When I joined Airstreams Forums and listed my type of motorhome in my profile, I had to choose from a drop down menu which listed it as SL. I tried to change it but could not. Oh, well.

Yesterday, I received an email from the Airstream Coordinator in Dealer Relations at Airstream. She said there were just over 60 ASLYG 30' MH's with slides produced in 2005. It would be nice to hear from others with similar rigs.

We're one of the 60
We're one of the 60. Bought ours used last May & we are doing our first extended stay (6 weeks) in it. Up until 3 weeks ago, we had only spent a week here & there camping in MI. This winter we're trying the "snow bird" thing in AL. So far, so good. The weather could be a bit warmer but compared to what we left in MI....not too bad.
I know most on this site like some mechanical comment, but I'm not going to show my total lack of knowledge in that area...I'll just say we had excellant gas mileage on the drive down. (about 10MPG) And we're finding the LY 30'SL to be very livable.

Padillab & Dowpells, we have a 2004 Land Yacht with slide. This is our second winter in Florida in it. Would love to trade information with owners of similar units. We are airstream12557 at aol.com
Dowpells, if you hare hunting a warmer place to stay, let me extend an invitation to join us at Land Yacht Harbor. We are a stockholder owned Airstream park in Melbourne, FL (sorry, no pets). Non airstream brands are welcome, but it is not designed to accomodate 40 ft. plus motorhomes. Lots are rented/leased by the day, week, season, or year.

Airstream12557, thanks for the invite. We checked on Land Yacht Harbor before we selected the campground we're in. The no pet rule stopped us. If you click on our images, you'll see why. Lizzy is quite sure we got this moho for her

Our 2000 is similar but greatest difference is the slideout, even our mpg about the same.
My dw loved the 2005 galley sink but I like the 2000 price more. lol
You didn't happen to get a number for all LY 30's produced?

We have a 2002 30' Classic with a S/O that we purchased used last summer. Only had one opportunity to take it camping last year but plan on at least a one month excursion this spring. We sold a 5th wheel a few years ago that we did some project work and were full timers for about 5 years. This A/S is new to me but looking forward to a long relationship. We really love the slide as it gives us alot more room in the living area. You don't feel so cramped. The slide on the A/S must not have been too popular as they only made them from 2002-2009 from what I hear.

What are the odds of having our twin Airstream Land Yacht pull in next to us? We're parked in AL & a 2005 with slide (from Canada) parks next to us! The guys are comparing notes on the engines. The women on the interiors & half the park is making jokes about an Airstream rally. Glad Bob posted the "60 made". I was able to share that with them. We were all just delighted to see another one.
To see pictures of the 2, click on images. (I don't know how to add them here)

How cool is that! Nice photos. Someday, I'm sure, we will run into someone with the same or similar rig also. It would be fun to learn a little more history about AS MH's in general, like how many Classics, Argosy's, LYG's and Flat-Fronts were made, the different models and their years, etc. Probably, someone at AS would help me out. Someday I will get to it. Stay tuned.

You folks need to learn how to post photos!
Those sound like great units, and while it's fun to put up pictures in the gallery (and we do thank you for that), your stories have way more punch if you show us what you're talking about as you tell us.
Take a few minutes and learn how to do it here. It's fun!

OK, here it goes, I'm posting my first photo. This is from our first trip in our LYG MH in August, 2007. It was delivered on a Monday and we were on the road by the next Saturday. Travelled to Platte River Campground in the Lake Michigan sand dunes area and then on to the UP / Marquette to look at colleges. Put on about 1400 miles that week! What a blast!
Sorry, I know this is off the main topic of the thread, but I just had to try it. Thanks to Aage for the suggestion. Will return at a later date with more MH history.
Bob

Good job Dowpells, which one is yours, red or tan?
Prior to buying our LYG, we trailered. I dreamed of having an AS trailer and we almost bought one for our 2005 family trip out west. A couple years later, someone parked a red LYG 30' SO over winter at the storage place where we kept our trailer. By that time we became more interested in changing gears to a MH.
The owner of the red one gave us a tour and we fell in love with the brand. His was not for sale, so I searched and searched. Found red, tan, forest green, indigo and then finally settled on our black/silver combination. It was practically brand new when we got it which was great. Made good use of the remaining warranty service period.
When we got it, it had a booth arrangement in the galley. We wanted more room, so I removed the booth and put in the freestanding table w/ chairs. Went from one look to another below. Also changed the fabric color scheme. Lot's of work, Lot's of fun.

By the way, I still have the booth and wood table hanging around in my garage. Anyone interested? I would make it worth your while. The parts are in good condition.

We're the tan one. Sorry for the delay in answering. (The Wi Fi at the campground is not very dependable.)
About your table replacement...what you changed to, is what came with our LYG. Were you able to get the table extension leaf? We looked & looked for one. Finally, we cut a board to fit. It's an OK fix when we need that extra 1 foot of table space, but, I would still like to find the real thing.
