Richard, I think this one has been posted before. The corrugated interior reminds me of a Ford tri-motor from the '30s.

Its great to see what can be done with our coaches. There are endless possibilites when you have such a timeless design. Wish I could have had the old interior pieces though, they looked really good as well.

I saw this coach about three years ago in Berkley Ca. The pics are great but it is really somethilng to see it all at one time. This experience started our search for a classic Airstream Motorhome. We bought a 1979 28' Excella last month. Joe

good luck with yours! The variety of mods to these is fascinating. Like the trailers many styles and tastes reflected. I kept mine to the original design with updated fabrics, and flooring. I would like to do some of the new laminates on the walls and trim, but the old wood look is in excellent shape so I don't yet want to replace it.

Hey, curtains are extra. What do you expect for $230,000?
I wonder what the expected profit on this coach is? I just don't have a base to ballpark the replacement appliances, furniture and materials. Anyone have a guess about the costs vs. retail price ratio?

With all due respect to individual tastes, I really think it's very difficult to improve on much of what was original in these coaches. My 1989 370 has only a few things I plan to change, and a few that are just too expensive to change. The banging wooden blinds in the front section have got to go. They're louder than the engine, and they don't close very tightly either. The sink in the bath area is way too small for such a vehicle, but it's a cast marble design which would not be cost effective to replace. The only other complaint I have about the interior is the "gold" fixtures in the bath area. Several are flaking off gold colored (brass) chips, especially the faucett. I'm going to gradually replace everything with standard residential chrome items - including a single-lever faucet.
I'm sort of like ALANSD in appreciating the original design while updating fabrics and carpeting. Of course, if someone wants to spend $230,000 on a motorhome makeover - more power to him.

One of the coolest MoHo conversion I've seen. I think this coach was featured on the Travel Channel (or something similar). I could not help but notice it's still for sale after quite a few years. I wonder what the market will bear.
When my interior conversion is done I'll be happy to sell it to someone for half that money. And mine still has storage onboard.

I know there's no "correct" view of this remodel job, but I'm with Craftsman. Unless this motorhome started out as a virtual wreck inside, my opinion would be to do enough to keep it up and maintained, but not gut it and lose that beautiful original interior. I certainly wouldn't argue with anyone over this, but I do think it's rather telling that the thing is still for sale after "quite a few years".

What a shame. I agree I sure hope the interior was salvaged. When looking at acquiring my Airstream MH, I was sold at least as much by the interior as by that classic outside. I've been an Avion trailer person (sorry), and I still own by 83, 30' - although I have no idea how I can keep both these things. Anyway, my attraction to them was the same as with the Airstream. The things are unique, functional, and yet just enough luxurious to keep my wife happy. Of course, the 370 is quite a bit more "luxury" than the Avion, but that's sort of due to the apparent motive at building the thing in the first place.

Anyone have that picture or one similar on this apparently famous MoHo?
and what ever became of Edie ? The post of hers in this thread was her last. Wasn't she the wife of one of the original moderators here?
