Windshield

I cracked a windshield last weekend. Is this something that a windshield shop can replace or do I need to take it to a Airstream specialist? I know some things are best done by someone who knows Airstreams but I'm not sure if the windshield replacement is more generic or needs special Airstream knowledge. I need a little guidance before I call my insurance.

Thanks, Dan

If the piece of glass is flat, you can buy custom-sized laminated glass for about $15/sq ft from many local glass suppliers. It is relatively easy to do it yourself.

There are many guides to glass replacement on the forum.

Dan.

Any decent windshield shop can replace the windshoeld in your Airstream.

You should also consider replacing the gasket, as a 28 year old gasket will be very hard, risking breaking the new glass. Your insurance company will also cover that part.

many threads on this.

the glass IS available, use an EXPERIENCED SHOP with a good rep.

contact your ins carrier, they may have a list of shops to recommend.

OR call a big moho dealer nearby 4 a recommendation.

make SURE the shop orders the correct glass,

the early moho all had the same size 2 piece glass,

but later a/s mohos had a slightly larger glass...

Thanks for the responses. I know the windshields are available I just wasn't sure if I needed to go to a dealer or if a competent auto glass shop could do the install. As we all know these aluminum tubes can present some interesting challenges. I just wanted to get my ducks in a row before I call the insurance.

Thanks again, Dan
