Window shade in door

Can someone tell me how to make the built in pull down window shade in the door of our 310 stay down. It pulls down just fine but i cant figure out how to make it stay. It may just be broken or missing some type of hook or fastener. Also, if it is broken can these be replaced without too much trouble?

The door window shade in our '77 has a tab at the bottom with a snap on it. The other end of the snap is attached to the window frame. I'll see about taking a pict of it.

Door window shade

Well, the 2nd part of the snap is actually on the door, not the window frame.

Thank you, i figured it was something like that but i didnt notice the snap on the door. The tab on the shade must be long gone but im sure an easy fix. Thanks again!

My '82 is the same with a tab on the shade and a snap on the door. I'm also looking to replace my shade with a new one.

Let me know if you find a source. Ours is not in great shape, but I haven't researched a replacement!

I bought a shade at big lots that was a close fit. I trimmed the cardboard tube and shade to the right width and reversed the process. I did remove the panel and rerivet it back. Excellent results

The shade is just a standard roll up shade that you can buy at Lowes or Home Depot. They just to cut to fit which is what I had Lowes do for me.

It's the style of shade that you pull down and it's supposed to stay in place. Once down you just pull down slightly to get the catch to release and it should roll back up.

I think the snap is only to keep it from moving around.

Somewhere I've got pictures from where I took my Argosy door apart to replace the hinges and also the shade. If I can find them I'll post them here.

Thanks for all the info. Sounds like the panel has to come off to replace correct?

I don't think so. I'll look at the door from the 310 to see if I can remove the shade.

There was no getting mine out without removing the panel. It was just a matter of 20 of so pop rivets.
No big deal!

Yep, just checked the 310 door. Maybe if you're Houdini you might be able to remove the shade without removing the inner skin but I'm pretty sure I can't
