I've just discovered I have a broken lock on one of the windows of my "new" '89 370. Looking over the site, I haven't seen this topic; but I'm sure it's in there. The latch works fine. The only thing broken is the sliding lock. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I'll do my best to get some pictures tomorrow, but I'm not certain the sliding lock piece will be visible. I'm so new to the forum, I'm not certain where I should put them on the site. Any help on how and where to do that? Thanks for responding.
Novia, are you talking about your front driver/passenger windows? Mine aren't quite right either but I figure while I have the windows out tomorrow I'll take a look at the locks too.
Do you have a service manual with your coach? If not the $75 you spend might be worth it. It's helped me quite a bit on stuff I'd never have figured out otherwise without asking questions here.
I'll let you know what I find out tomorrow.

I'm talking about the locks on the other windows, but on my coach they all work on the same principle, i.e. there's a sliding bar on the latch, shaped like a miniature 4X4 piece of lumber that locks the window when pushed down, and unlocks when you push up. Please let me know what you find out tomorrow. I do have the owner's manual, and it has been very helpful, just not with the window lock issue.
these latches have a srpin ginside that does not always work right, Then the latch will not lock. I have found even new ones which are 110 bucks a piece by the way, don't work right. Bad design and no improved part available.
I ended up using a piece of wooden rod cut to fit to hold the slider window in place as a security lock when parked. Not pretty but I painted it silver...
Since they are supposed to have springs most of mine don't work right, but I can live with that. The broken one is on a window where someone apparently tried to break in the coach (must have been a very small person!) and broke the plastic slide (for the lock) off so that the window cannot be locked. However, I think I can fabricate something to make it work. I like your idea about silver painted wooden rods. Thanks again.
