Airstream build trailers and moho's like Ford build their vehicles......build it so people can't work on them and they will have to come back for service. Come to think of it, I wonder what Jackson center charges to replace door hinges, (properly) on a Classic moho.

Ya, i was wondering that myself. I dont even want to guess what it would cost. Ive got the door skins off and need to take a closer look at the interior. What type of rivet or fastener did you use to reattach the screen door Tony?

Boy that hits home! I just spent a day laying under my dad's 2002 Explorer. Both rear coil springs broke. Common problem! Problem is its almost impossible to get at the 3 nuts that hold the strut assemblies in place. Add the complication that they rust solid and require a right angle die grinder and mirror to cut the bastards off.
Gave me real appreciation for my dentist.

Your Dentist uses a "right angle" air drive ultra high speed hand piece that holds the various "burrs".
Why right angled?
It's far easier to work with and to use on a patient.
Most die grinders, are "right angled".
Doing many mechanical jobs, is like driving down a highway. Once in a while you must leave the highway and use a street!

Xmas gift
The wife finally got her "furniture" for the Airstream! We wanted to get some camp chairs eventually, but decided if we got them now and the air mattress we have...... we're good to go. Went for the retro look. They are sitting upstairs in my office until either the construction is done or cleaned up enough so we can use them inside as well as out this spring!! It is officially a mobile aluminum tent.

Good job Peter, I was curious how long it would take for somebody to figure it out. These units are very popular in Europe, supplemental braking systems are mandatory on buses, ambulances and fire trucks. They are a bit spendy which is why you don't see many over here.
I used to drive a bus that had one and they are pretty impressive. They will bring you from 70 mph to less than 10 mph very aggressively without ever touching the brake pedal. This particular unit, which is a small one, will generate 737 lb-ft of braking torque on the drive shaft. And it's dead silent with the exception of 4 relays clicking.
Actually I'm not really brave, just not smart enough to be afraid. The thing that does worry me is I have to drill eight 5/8" holes in the frame to mount the darn thing. The rest is just taking a lot of reasonably accurate measurements and running a few wiring looms.

Nope, no friction material at all, just good old fashion electromagnetic eddy currents. Rollercoasters use them to stop. I just finished reading up on them and asked Dan for more info. Pretty cool but very expensive.

Not really, nothing touches anything it's totally friction less electro-magnetic. That unit capable of exerting 737 lb-ft of braking torque on the drive shaft. Kind of like a backward electric motor.
Telma makes a great unit but ridiculously expensive, I just lucked across this one on eBay for next to nothing because nobody knew what it was, I was the only bid.

So does this activate with a switch in your brake linkage or a seperate manual switch somewhere? Do you use it occasionally when needed or will it be part of your braking system all the time?

There is a 4 position switch mounted on the brake pedal, the further you push the pedal the more stages or coils energize. There is also a steering column or dash mounted lever available that can be used on long downgrades. There is also a speed sensor the de-energizes the unit at about 2 mph. It does have a significant power draw but unless you are stuck in lots of stop and go traffic it's not really a problem.
When I worked at the L.A. Fire Dept. we got into lots of interesting stuff. Because of the size of the Dept. we wrote the equipment specs for much of the equipment used by fire departments across the country. These units cost about $8000 back in the 90's, I have no idea what they cost today but that is why you don't see many. I paid $200 including all the controls, mounts and 2 drive shafts. I was more than a little bit surprised that nobody else bid.
Vycan the focal units are easier to install but very specific to the application. The axial drive line units are more flexible in application.

Very interesting Dan. What a great way to enhance these rather challenging 4 wheel disc brakes on the p30 chassis. I, along with mostI assume, had never even heard of such a thing in an automotive/moho application. I assumed there would be drive shaft mods but to get them WITH the unit sounds like an incredible deal. Your knowledge and skills are truly amazing, thanks for taking the time to share some of it here on the forums.
