Univolt is reason I'm buying that fancy electronics unit. It's barely keeping up with what I'm using it for. And, figure that since it's 23 years old, it's time for a replacement. I spent just over $100 for this on Amazon......not that I've always got an extra Ben Franklin sitting around, lol
Thanks, Derek

Derek, it was a joke! The reason my Univolt is sitting in the garage is that it is a piece of junk. Univolts burn up batteries...I kno, I have multiple battery receipts to prove it!

Hey there,
After I posted my response this morning, I realized that you were joking with your response. Too many on the forum have told me from the beginning to start looking for a replacement. Was advised by an experienced RV mechanic that the unit I just bought was the best there was.
He did point me in a direction for purchase, but when I found out I could save some $ by ordering on Amazon, had to go there instead. I may regret it if I ever need servicing on this, but seriously doubt anything could go wrong, except old age!
Thanks, Derek

Use the right batteries and the univolt works fine. Oh, we've only had the coach for twenty years full timing, by the way.

Got an Olympic 6000 for the front...the pi(previous investor, as opposed to po...) had removed the front(under the sink) Suburban heater(did I say 'thank you?'), but left us a nice gas line...quik-connect, 6' of hose, a couple of adapters...H E A T...will get a couple of 90 swivels to bring the gas line back around the back to eliminate the toe-tripping extension...THAT"S what I got for mine, today.
Al, may the speedbumps appear in your rearview mirror...

Mike, what type of coach batteries are you using? Mine are 6 volt, heavy duty type, can't remember brand name at the moment though. I've checked voltage output of Univolt, barely keeping up. It's time for a replacement. With me not knowing all of it's history, who's to say what sort of abuse the Univolt has had to endure (voltage drops and spikes). 23 years old, I'm not complaining about the replacement. I'm sure in the 80's, the Univolt was probably one of the better charger/converters, but with advancing technology, certain that there are some things that have improved on charger/converters as well.
Thanks, Derek

You guys are getting me all freaked out about the Univolt that's still humming away (literally) in my Argosy 24. I've never checked it's output as I've not had any issues with is keeping the battery charged. But, I've never tested it for voltage nor have I tested it's limits by running the battery down low and then plugging to moho in to 120V and seeing how well the Univolt can bring things back up to speed.
On a side note, my moho got all of it's windows back today. As of today, all windows have been re-installed after having taken them all out, cleaned things up, repaired one latch mechanism, and replaced all of the window track / weatherstripping.

Ok,
So, life has it's advantages when you have connections. Before my current 'career' as a Postal Letter Carrier, I professionally installed commercial grade wallpaper.
At my folks home over the weekend, and what did I find? Some great wallpaper to cover over the ugly glossy brown paint in the bathroom, as well, as more wallpaper to cover the half-a$$ed sponge painting job in the kitchen area (you can see the sponge paint in 3rd pix)
And thanks to Elbundi, I purchased his NuTone countertop blender/mixer which arrived today! Perfect Andy, it's great!
Next, I received the obligatory pink flamingo kitchen mitt and dishtowel set as a gag Christmas gift from my family. Except, I went completely nuts over it, cuz let's face it, owning an Airstream isn't complete until you have at least something with pink flamingos.....
And last but not least, my new charger/converter arrived this afternoon. It was already beginning to get dark outside, so the install will happen tomorrow. Hopefully, I have some sort of idea on what I'm doing here, will keep going until I get it right.
Thanks, Derek

A question for you. Did you upgrade on your alternator? (higher amps).
Thanks, Derek

After years of replacing X, Y and Z brand batteries all the the time, I got turned on to AC Delco 12 volt "Voyager" Marine/RV batteries (Available from Chev & GMC dealers) They are sealed and give us great service. The Univolt, as I understand it, is not a charger, per say, it's a "trickle" type that only keeps the battery to the charge it has. You can see by the chart how long it takes to fully charge a battery; it's like driving from Seattle to Portand with the alternator doing the job. As one might expect, the Delcos are not cheap, but I sure swear by (rather than at) them!

What type of paste/glue will you be using for the wallpaper? Seems like the regular stuff won't stick on glossy surfaces (or any other kind when I use it )
Are you replacing your counter tops? I was thinking of using the "Granite Transformations" outfit since they only use a veneer and you don't have to replace the whole surface. I have seen some bad reviews about them tho.
