Coach looks great. FYI if you can find a wheel brite for aluminum your wheels will gleam. Sometimes auto zone will have in the back room. You have to ask for it. Hehe.

I wish it was that easy. It's really not too bad but you do have to remove the old vent, clean up the old caucking, do a little triming and install the new base. Then 4 screws attach the new vent to the base. It's really a great vent and well worth the effort. By the way on mine there was an inoperative antenna base that was in the way so I had to remove it and patch the hole.

I think the wheels will clean up without too much trouble it's just finding the time. It has been a marathon effort to get the coach ready for this trip. I hadn't planed on the wheels or awnings for this trip but they just happened to come up for sale and I couldn't pass them up. I had already started to mount the new tires on the steel wheels and had to dismount and remount on the aluminum wheels. It's not that big of a deal but it puts the pressure on when time is short.

Now that we are on the road I'm hoping things will slow down a bit so I can start to relax and enjoy life.

My big deal is a rebuilt transmission - had a hose break between the tranny and the dedicated cooler while on an % upgrade in the middle of a "descending radius curve" (the highway engineer who invented those need to be suspended by his privates) and lost all the fluid. When that happens you stop. Right now. Even so, the friction pads were badly burnt so it's a rebuild job after only 190K miles.

I have a transmission leak at the gasket...looks bad, but only a half quart per 2 months...considering the 10,000 foot passes I crawl over at 15-20 miles an hour, it will do until I can fix it...a disturbing discovery is that then 1st gear will automatically shift into 2nd gear after 3300 rpms...not a pleasant feeling when yer going down a seven percent grade around a curve...brakes are really important...we are on the road 9 months of the year, but we head for FLAT as soon as is possible...Flat is good. brakes are better...m

I think these are built on a better frame (not 100% sure) Spartan EC2000 chassis. So I doubt thy have the week but like ours

Got a new fan clutch, and a road master steering stabilizer. Wow! Driving down interstate after picking it up I looked down I was going 70. Yeah I know I slowed right down. That stabilizer with the new Henson bell cranks I could let go of the wheel passing a semi. It is amazing!! Then....then this blowing noise I never herd before started I slow down to 50mph and the realized it was my fan kicking on. Oh my gosh the temp dropped I sped back up and all is good. So I thought. I got back to work where I keep it look under it and it's leaking oil. Little drips come to find out after investigating and 2 nd opinion the front seal is leaking. I have a trip I planned on taking it on to Arkansas on the 4th. I was told drive it check oil often then get it fixed when I get back. It's a 1600 mile round trip. I have to use this thing before I run out of money. Haha. Opinion on driving it?

Go and enjoy the trip.
Chances are if will get worse before it gets better. But oil is cheap at this point to determine how bad its leaking. I would go for the trip and keep close watch on the oil level and carry some extra oil so you have it available at all stops. (call it an undercoating trip)
Probably not, but maybe some extended running with heat will loosen the seal up and allow it to be flexible again.

Thank you! That's what I wanted to hear. I can remember growing up our cars leaked oil and we lived up north. My dad always said oh that oil is good for keeping the car from rusting. Haha undercoating. I thought the same maybe the drive will help the leak. I own a oil change and already loaded it up with a case of oil and antifreeze. I can't wait to drive it. I will say wasn't looking forward to the drive after spending all the money on the new bell cranks and it still being all over the road. That road master made all the difference. Can't stress that enough. It even has a spring over the shock. Very heavy duty. Thanks again.

I was reading about an oil additive that can soften seals and restores their

( shape, usefulness. )

used on vehicles that sit for some time.

Maybe Schaeffers or one of those specialty oil companies.

Most good Auto parts stores have these seal restore products and they do work.
Add some and a good fresh oil and filter and take your trip.

a 50/50 Synthetic blend is what I like.

some oils will also Heal the seals with special additives on these 70 and 80 's era engines

Follow the advise above. carry 6 extra quarts and check every morning while it is cool. before you head out.

These engines will normally use 1 quart every 500 to 1,000 miles as anyway

I use Mobil 1, and it created leaks, at first, but will go for 5-10K miles...now if they just made a Mobil 1 tranny fluid...yeah, I know, I know...I need to just crawl under there and replace the gasket...please note 'crawl' is the pertinent word, and I still have to stand up when I'm done...m

I have had M1 ATF in my Jeep 5.9 and it notoriously fickle 46RE trans for about 40k miles, and it seems to be holding up fine, although I am feeling like I should change it soon.

These seal additives... Anyone used them?
My GF's Range Rover has a weep from the front main, that weeps when we are on the freeway, and gives a nice burnt oil wiff when we stop...
