Waste Water Level Sensors

My black water sensor has been stuck on 3/4 since I bought it a year ago. Is there any way to get at it without pulling the tank. Any access ports? Any tricks on getting them to work without pulling the sensor?

I can see my sensors on the respective pipes that drain each tank and connect to the common sewer outlet. Check back there. Mine could easily unscrew and be replaced if necessary. Keep us posted.

I hear that is common in these types of sensors... try flushing the tank, and maybe using a pressure wand?

On my black water holding tank from under the coach the first two or three sensor are visible. You can check and clean them to make sure they have a good contact with wire connection. They also sell a gauge cleaner you can add into the tank to clean the senors. These senors seem to be one of those little on going problems that never get completely resolved.

I found a work a round. I drove a nail in the wall of the bathroom that we hang a wooden yardstick on.

Just kidding! My tanks have a metal box over them with insulation inside. No pipes, wires, fittings... Visible

Cleaning has not helped. It's hell not knowing when yer full of crap!

Full-timer RV'r friend of mine told me this 'hint' on cleaning the black tank. Before heading to campground, take a 5lb bag of ice, dump it down the toilet, let the ice move around in the tank while driving to campsite. Once there, go ahead and dump black tank. Sounds plausible to me.

Ice in the black tank sounds like a great idea! Way back when I waited tables in a restaurant, we would use ice and salt in the coffee pots after someone would leave it on the burner too long. We would swirl the mixture around for a couple minutes and voila!, the pot was amazingly clean!

20 gallons of water with level sensor cleaner for 2 warm days then a big bag of ice for a 70 mile drive. No joy!

Wondering, did you drain the black tank before adding the ice?

Yep, ice will help. but if the sensor is shot...well...sometimes a senser of humor helps...water in, water out...if it doesn't flush, don't hit the brakes hard until it does...I carry a crap stick for the eventual plugs that occur, and I can throw it away as time and encrustation dictates...this is a sticky subject for some, but it won't go away without attention.m

My black water sensors show full all the time, also. I've tried every trick listed above to no avail. I am going to try the ice/sensor cleaner one more time when we move the coach. Oh please, don't make me take the tank out.

I replaced the black water-gray water connections...not a pleasant thing to do...hauling a 5 gallon bucket 4 times to the toilet was an exercise in careful carrying, and a fairly disgusting process...i used two tubes of plastic to seal the gap...well...1/2 inch I didn't include in my calculations... ya know, cut it twice and it was still too short...? So far, it has sufficed, but the next time this issue has to be addressed, I'm paying the bucks...sensor...not a problem for me...I'm done with doing black water situations...I will simply monitor intake and output, err on the side of conservative, and NEVER try to fix it myself, again.
