Urban Air Airstream Gathering in Eaton Rapids, Michigan

Hey gang, any of you classic moho owners attending the "Urban Air" event in Michigan this weekend?

About 150 Airstreams come to this quaint small town to camp along Main Street right in downtown!

They've done it a few times and it's really cool.

Long ago I had planned to drive the Aluminum Falcon to it, but as we all know, she's still stationary, so I'm pulling a Penn Wood (driving my SUV 10 hours out there and then sleeping in the back of it at night).

Sam (STstudios) was going to drive his 345 to it and we were gonna hang out there together, but unfortunately his rig got grounded at the last minute too.

Anyway, I'm just arriving there now and am excited to hang out there this weekend, tour a ton of Airstreams, and support the local businesses in town.

Any chance any of you will happen to be there?

Learn more about it here:

Tap nice pictures. There's another thread about it called Urban Air 2016. Looks like such fun.

Thanks Hittensteihl, I appreciate it, I hadn't seen that thread yet.

But I'm also just wondering if any classic Airstream motorhomes will be there to represent.

So far they are of the mostly new trailer variety, with a few older trailers mixed in.

Gee Mark......maybe a trailer might be better for you. I have one and there are pluses and minuses. Regards, Bob

I know, right!
At least my engine and cooling would be handled by a healthy modern vehicle, so that I really could take it places.

I've been tempted, but deep down I do truly love my AS motorhome and want to finally enjoy it someday.

I found a classic moho here!

A 325 from Ohio. Is that anyone from this forum?

I hope to stop by and chat with them later today.

This gathering is on my bucket list one of these days when I get more vacation time or retire.
There is another urban rally in a Texas town near Austin each year as well.

UrbanAir somewhere else?

This looks like SO much fun! I would love to know about the one in Texas... and I think it would be so cool to have one on the Central Coast of CA. We have some really cute downtowns... anyone else interested?

Some of those events have no services.
You show up with a full fresh water tank.
They come around with a tanker truck and empty the black and gray tanks.
Everything in the trailer will work on the 12 volt system except microwave, television, and air conditioner.
I still want to do it one day.

They have basic electrical for lights, charging, tv, etc. just not air conditioning or microwave.

But it's a perfect fall day here, so perfect sleeping temps and no need for any air conditioning.

They have fun activities and bon fires, etc.

Best of all, everyone is super friendly, both townfolk and Airstreamers. Plenty of time for touring over 100 Airstreams of all ages and sizes.

They do tend to plan these events when the weather is mild.
It is a really cool idea.

I'd hate to be the last guy in that line of trailers, with my luck I'd get called back to work and have to wait for everyone in front of me to hook up and move!

It is a lot of fun. The city hooks up 15 or 20 amp to each vehicle. The service was excellent last year and any problems were quickly resolved. The city also has a free dump station. You've got to try it at least once.

I've seen campgrounds that park the trailers tongue to bumper or tongue first in the site with a skid steer loader.
