ULSD fuel and older Diesel engines?

I read recently that pre-1990 Diesel engines can have serious seal problems with the new ultra-low-sulfur-diesel fuel - seals get stiff and don't seal anymore. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Or found a workaround?

Jamie,
I am not a mechanic and have no clue, but I have a older (1996) diesel and am not taking chances. I use the Standyne Diesel Fuel conditioner religiously! I also try and run bio-diesel when I can find it. I was getting B-80 around here a while back but my source dried up
