Actually, I need to reward myself and see if I find a good radio/Gps/Cd that fits in my dash. I am pretty beat up from the last 2 days. I just finished replacing the front brake pads and the rattle is gone. More on that in my next post.

Is the caliper worn or are their higher quality, better fitting pads?
Listen to this short video to hear and see the front pad rattle I am talking about

I replaced the old pads (which were fairly new) with these and they fit much tighter. No more rattle

Peter, I've been looking at a unit like this to fit in the dash of my Argosy.

Single Din GPS radio

I have a 2-din Android radio similar to this that I really like. I also have a 2-din Windows CE radio that I hate! As far as reliability and easy of use the Android unit beats the Windows CE unit hands down.

The single din radios have a pull out screen that handles the GPS and videos and if you install a rear view camera it can display the camera feed.

This particular radio does not include the actual GPS software such as IGO but has the GPS system built in. You need to purchase IGO software separately. There are plenty of other models to chose from that do have the IGO software pre-installed. I just linked to this one as an example of what's available.

As a disclaimer I have not purchased one of the pull out screen radios before so I can't vouch for reliability but I do plan on using one in mine.

Brad

Good question, John. I tried to verify it but it just says Front. If you go to other sites like rockauto.com , the front pad always say rear as well

Good Job Peter!
Great to talk to you today!
You ROCK, and I will elaborate over on my thread!

Nice Radio Brad, I like the idea of loosing that brick on the top of the dash for the RVC...

Seems like an odd arrangement but that's how GM set it up. If I remember things correctly the problem with hot starts was due to the long undersized wire ran from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid. As the small wire got hot from being close to the exhaust system the resistance went up and the amount of current making it to the starter solenoid was reduced so there wasn't enough current to actually get the solenoid on the starter to engage.

So the ignition switch now energizes the solenoid on top of the valve cover. There is a heavier gauge wire from the battery (or some +12vdc source) to the new solenoid which then goes down to the original solenoid. Larger wire and more current allows the original starter solenoid to engage.

I'll look around for the service bulletin. It's been posted on Airforums before I just don't remember where.

Brad
Here's a site that can explain the hot start problem and solution better than I can.

And here's one from airforums.

Got me going on this subject now, Brad
I probably would have room for a 2din since there is a radio and an equalizer currently. Just have to check the room behind the dash.
Why would you prefer an Android system to something like this:
Jensen A/V Receiver w/ DVD-Built-in NAV-Built-in Bluetooth Technology-Sirius-XM Ready-Pandora-USB-HDMI Multi VX7012 - Best Buy

I believe that is an Android system and looks to be a good one so I'd be interested in that one as well

Being name brand would put it towards the top of my list. When I posted the link yesterday I just grabbed the first link that came up. I actually haven't looked at them for a while as I'm not ready to buy. I figured when I actually have the dash back in place then it's time to find the right radio.

Dang it Peter!

After looking at the Jensen reviews (all positive by the way) and looking around at prices I convinced myself to go ahead and order one!

I found the best price at Amazon for $283 with free shipping. I had a coupon to use so I got it for even less. I think I'll look at this as a Christmas present to myself

get the one with the little remote camera and be done with that part. Besides, you should install it right away with the dash so you can have tunes and a GPS to find your way around your shop.
I will order one myself, but still trying to find one locally, because I have time this weekend to install it (no patience here)
