Thanks for the diagram, Brad.
The issue with connecting speakers together as they did in the factory is that it changes the OHM. The new system requires 4 ohms only. That's why I went through the trouble to separate them deep under the dash.

Yeah I understood why you were re-wiring. I was hoping the documents might shed light on the wiring coming from the rear speakers that you were asking about.

I haven't sorted the speaker wiring on my Argosy as yet so that ought to be an interesting challenge

Yes I did. Since i am keeping the Sony amp above and its fastened with a strong bracket to the dash, I can tie the 2 together, I think. Lots and lots of wires to have to deal with and the Jensen wants good ventilation.

Good idea. I won't have that option on my Argosy but I think I've got a solution that will work.

Peter, when you have an opportunity would you mind snapping a couple of pictures giving a side view of the radio when the screen is retracted and also when the screen is up and in position. I'd like to see how much room is behind the screen when its extended (open). The dash top on my Argosy sticks out past the aluminum extrusion some so I'd like to see what kind of interference I might have.

Yes, Brad, happy to do so once I install it for real. Keep on finding stuff I have to do, like these Flexible Air hoses waiting to short stuff out. I also have to wire all the way to back for the camera and "whilst" I was doing that I ran another wire for a compressor light on the dash. At least I will know when the compressor is running continuously.
Just thought about your dash issue. You could always pivot the radio a little when you install the first bracket.

Wow, that hose is badley deteriorated, I don't think I've seen one that bad before.

Have you bought your rear view camera already? If so what did you get?

No, didn't decide on the camera yet, just did the pre wiring

I must be easy to get Christmas presents for me (Airstream Motorhomes were the only way to go after VW micro busses)

How about a side shot with the screen up and extended showing clearance behind the screen?

Brad, here are the measurement
5/8 on top and 1" on the bottom of the screen.
But I had to tilt mine a little, to clear the knob of the amp behind it.
So on a straight install you have about 7/16-1/2" on the top.
If the screen touches anything on the top the button labeled "open" will NOT function. Its a matter of millimeters.
I tilted mine with the rear strap that is fastened to the amp.
If you look at where the face plate touches the dash, you can see a little gap on the top versus the bottom

The unit actually sits farther out from the dash than I thought it would although I'll probably still have to space it out a little farther on my Argosy but not to much.

I wish I was far enough along that I was ready to install the radio

Finally was able to go for a test drive with the new trans pan and trans temp gauge.
temp varies a lot with the range being around 160 -180, goes up at traffic stops drops down fast once you get moving.

Brad, you will be very happy with the new fan clutch. Very smooth and quiet operation. Best I had.

Be interesting to see if the oil temperature ever gets hotter than the engine temperature.

Ran across this little blurb on a website called "Steel Solders".

"How hot is too hot? The ideal operating temperature for automatic transmission fluid is between 175 and 225° F. At approximately 240° F, important additives in the ATF begin to cook. The result is the formation of varnish inside the transmission. At approximately 260° F, internal transmission seals (which are typically manufactured from a polyacrylate material) begin to harden. The end results are leaks, both internal and external, simply because the seals lose their elasticity. At approximately 295° F, transmission clutch plates begin to slip because the oil is breaking down further. At approximately 315° F, seals and clutches effectively burn out. Carbon forms in the oil and for all intents and purposes, the transmission is junk. Just for your information, a typical transmission will die within 2000 miles if subjected to 300° F+ heat."

You may want to add this to your wiring diagram:

1. Ignition wire needs to have its own switch, if you don't wire to your ignition. (if you just turn to unit off, it will continue to get warm and run the fan)
2. To operate the DVD player at all times, wire the handbrake (pink) to ground (disclaimer, its illegal to operate a DVD player while driving!)
3. The backup camera uses the green wire to turn on the camera in reverse. Wire that green wire to constant power using a toggle switch to trick it into thinking you are in reverse

Last post on the subject. Had to dig into the dash again, lost ground to the left seat switch, had to run a new ground wire.
Added switch to turn camera on at will and did the dvd override.
Now of to new adventures:
dual fan in front of radiator any idea where to look for them?
