Hey, Girls & Guys!
Now i can show, what happend after this wonderfull Evening at the wineyard:
Attachment 270530
Attachment 270531
Attachment 270532
Attachment 270533
A snake-tomb! There was constantly "green water" leaking, i found the hose if the heater as "guilty" after removing Airfilter, many vacuumhoses and wires! This hose blew about 1 year ago, the clamp went loose since a while. Engine was "flooded" with "green stuff" (abti-freeze)
Attachment 270534
As you can see, my first thought was "quick fix", no need to get dressed...?
A Pyjama is a perfect "work-suit".
Once i was busy, i saw, why my volt-gauge was allways low and light while nightdrive weak:
The LESTEK-regulator is mounted on radiator frame, with just 2 screws. These became loose and corossive after 30 years, so i had a bad ground!
Cleaned it well, changed the screws and installed a thick wire from the regulator ground to chassis. Now i have constantly 13.4 Volts!
Thank's god, i have ALLWAYS the essential tools and some "fixing stuff" with me...!
After about 2 hours in the bright sun (Pyjama-Party!), it was done, could take may shower, had a second breakfast, day could start!
Attachment 270535
My son called this picture "Car-porn"...!

Bangles travel-ready, the "bikers" on the go, i left a bit "in a hurry" and....:
CRACKED a taillight of the bikerack 👹! There was a hidden pole in the "green", invisible with back-up camera. the rack got a bad hit, but -thank's god- no hit to the body!!!! (bike racks in Germany are mounted ON THE HITCH BALL!)
Because of the cracked light, i blew some fuses, there was a short circuit now!
I took of the lights and left go a local repairshop for car-electrics:

The shop was far too small for Bangles, we "fumbled" on the road!
Quick fix, cool mechanic, just insulated the wires finally, because the needed light was not in stock. He asked for nothing, wished a pleasant journey and wanted to see Bangles from inside...!

Entering Traben-Trarbach, the "splitted" Town: Traben (left riverside) and Trarbach (right riverside).
There are impressive old buildings from the "Art nouveau" style, the town was very wealthy in the "golden times" (1870-1914), it was the second biggest wine stock exchange after Bordeaux (France) in Europe! There are Wine-caves from more than 2 1/2 km long!!!!

While it was -again- impossible to find a nice and big enough spot for the coach, we decided to move further for the "afternoon-coffee" break.
A few miles furthe, next to ferry boat was a big RV park anounced, i had to hurry up, my "bikers" were quick!

RV's lined up the rivervieuw!
I found a spot (1/2 - legal!), set up the awning, it was very hot, made the patio ready, just in time!
They arrived and screamed for icecream, cake and ice-tea!

The patio awning is pretty wide, but pulls out not very deep. We could have either "river-vieuw" with deep & hot sun, or "backyard-vieuw" in the shade. We got lined up with chairs under the awning, "chicken on a barbecuepin-like" and enjoyed the nice vieuw.
After a few moments the first neighbours came "along", took pictures, asked for "guided tours" inside....! (Now i know, how monkeys in the Zoo may feel!)
Time to leave and cool down in the river a bit!

Next stop and the overnight spot was planned in eigher Ediger or in Bremm. Those two villages are known for the best Riesling wine out of the Moselle Valley, STEAPEST winehill is in Bremm: "Bremmer Calmont", the name comes from the roman age : "Mons caldus", means "hot Mountain". this Mountain is in a river elbow, so the sun surrounded the wineyards at maximum and heats up the stoney ground. The result is a fantastic rich & fruity Rieslingwine! (Very good!!!)

On the go to Bremm, crossing the Moselle in Bulay, this Bridge (build in about 1900!) has two levels. up the railroad, down the road! Not very common here!
We planned a Restaurant dinner in Ediger, we know this town from work, but......?!
Stay curious!

Arriving in Bremm! right side the ruins of a monastere from 1450, left the fabulous "Bremmer Calmont", only handlabour here for the winemakers, to steapy for any machine. (i guess, "high-heel" shoes will work great here, the you stay "levelled"!)Click image for larger version

I am so very much enjoying your sommer urlaub! Please keep posting! And the pictures are fabulous! Looks like everybody is having a wonderful time. And a bonus, you found a mechanic to work on the lights "for free". That's hard to find!

Enjoy!

This very well equipped RV park in a winery was for 7 Metres (25') maximum, no way to enter with Bangles. We wanted a clean and cozy spot for the night, so "boondocking" on a truck park, beside the road was not an option.
Some other RVers told me, in Neef, on the other side of the river, a few miles back (&#128556, i''ll find a spacious and well equipped RV park, a bit far from the town, but "nice"! So, i bought some VERY GOOD Moselle-Riesling wine (called "Neefer Frauenberg" and "Bremmer Calmont") and took again the "wheel", to look for this place.

I have just finished reading your thread and thoroughly enjoyed it. My mom is from Germany (Wiesbaden) and I spent a summer outside Frankfurt (Bonigheim) with my school. We went to school in the morning and traveled in the afternoons. We were also in West Berlin for two weeks before the wall came down (1972). What an interesting town for a 16 year old!
Your castles and small towns bring back many memories. Now I would like to travel it once again but with a camper. Don't think I could afford to bring my airstream (Pendelton 28ft) and f250 pickup.
Keep posting and I will continue to view Europe once again thru your eyes! Love the wine references also.
Gina

Hey Gina!
thank you very much for joining Peter's & our thread! It make's me allways a bit proud, once i see, HOW MANY followers we allready have!
If you wish to travel again thru Germany with an Airstream, you should better rent one here...! The rates to ship an Airstream from East coast to Germany are VERY HIGH , we just shipped Anja's new "toy", an 29' Ambassador, for about 3500,-$ 😬!!!! Also, you will need some significant remodel for AC etc to use the US trailer here.
To follow "our" trip with a RV is not very difficult, but keep in mind, i used to drive "big toys" into "narrow spots"! Any road here is far smaller than the highways in the US. Sometimes it was a challenge, even for me, to manouver "Bangles" cross these villages and "cozy spots"...! (Peter told me once, either i am foolish or genious, to do so 😀!
There are MANY RV's to rent here, mostly (ugly!) Class-C, some smLl "Class A), but we will find something "funny" for you! These are travelready, affordable in "side-seasons"!

If you ever plan to travel here, let me know, i could help you to find a nice tour, following your requests. (wine, castles, food, nature....?!)

Unfortunatelly, i am not allowed anymore to post pictures for now, my "free volume ecceded", i was 't aware of the fact, there is a limit....!
'am not sure, if i am willing to pay for, if i wan't to share "AIRSTREAM-fun" with my "Aluminium-friends"....! I still have a bunch of nice Airstream pics etc.
We'll see!
By for now, happpy Airstreaming!!!!!

The heavy rain was really a bad thing...!
We decided to make the best of it, cruising down the river to Cochem and visit the fabulous "Reichsburg" in Cochem!!!!
The wipers were in "full speed", we had a "silent trip", my "bikers" missed their "daily challenge"!
You will be REALLY pleased, once you see the pictures fron this "pure-german-tow "!
Be curious!!!!
