Great to hear from you, I guess I may have been the last person from here to have seen you...well at least your rig.
Let me know if you need anything...We have had Sylvia on several adventures since, we are still working the bugs out of her and making her ours.
She is under at least a foot or better of snow behind our barn, hopefully spring will come soon and we can get her rolling again.

Hi Curt!
You were a lifesaver a couple years back when the Aluminum Falcon and I had that blowout near Madison, WI. I was so bummed. Thank you so much for everything!

I hope that you are all doing well. The last time I saw a member of this gang was about three years ago, when the wonderful Martin Warman was passing through Minneapolis. It was a Halloween night (I think) and we went out for a delicious dinner at Chino Latino in Uptown in Minneapolis. We talked for hours, ate amazing food, and had a really fun time. Martin, thank you for treating me to dinner, it was so kind of you. I couldn’t find a photo of that night on my phone, I hope that Martin has one and posts it here.

I’ll be flying through Fleming Field/South St. Paul in two weeks.... If you’re around, I’ll swap tours with you! Ever been in a King Air? It’s the aluminum ride I use to fund my other aluminum ride!

Man I wish that we had taken a photo that night. I must have been too busy talking your ears off and stuffing my face with delicious food.

I’m doing great. Working a ton. The Aluminum Falcon is fine, it needs some work and I’ve put it off for the past couple years. I need to get back to it.

I also own a Roadtrek (van-sized little RV), so I’ve been road tripping in that for the past two years. That’s been good, but I miss using my Airstream, so I want to get back to that.

I’d love to attend another get together this fall hopefully.

If you ever pass through Minneapolis again let me know. This time I’ll treat.

Ahoy Tap, glad to see that you are back with us and getting into your rig again.

The tank removal is a doable project. There are a few tricks in the process. You will need more clearance to be able to get it out from under the coach.

I tried jacking up from the rear of the frame, wouldn't suggest that approach as the frame is so flexible in the rear that it stresses the skin and interior.
Better would be to get the rear tires up on some stout ramps to gain the height you need. 6 or 8 inches should do it.

Once you have the coach positioned and tank drained. You can look at unbolt ing the straps that hold it up in the chassis. Two floor jacks will make it easy to manage the tank once it's unbolted.
Then the straps are a bugger to get out of the way of the tank once unbolted.

Once the tank is out from under the coach. It's good to inspect it to determine condition. I found the insides to be in very good condition, but the pressed seems were weeping in a few spots. This lead to getting all the seems welded .
Then I coated the tank exterior with pickup bed liner.
You will want to check the sender float as they do expire in there, leaving you with no fuel level indication at the gage.

Once you have it all sorted and ready to go back in with new hoses from the pickup pipe and new return hose. Etc. these need to be controlled during the installation to keep them from getting pinched by the frame crossmember.
This happened to me and others here while reinstalling the tank, so take care to avoid this.

I want to clean and possibly re-coat the inside of the tank.

1) How do I open up the tank?

2) What should I use to clean the tank?

3) What should I re-coat it with?
