Hi!
The carburetor is all good now. I think mechanically everything under the doghouse is finally in tip top shape. I am taking it out this weekend, so I'll soon find out.

And I found replacement parts for the carburetor in the Onan, so that will soon be working too.

What was the charger?

Thanks Vycan!

Sigh, "tip top shape" yeah; "taking out this weekend" yeah; How many times do I have to tell you guys!

On the up side; with the Airstream Gods attention now totally focused on Marky Marc flying across Minnesota with not a care in the world, we can all get some work done in peace.

Cheers
Tony

It just takes awhile for folks to realize "tip top shape" is an instantaneous and transient state on these old dears; tip top shape now, does not mean it will be in tip top shop in one month, one day, one hour or even one minute's time....

Although a change in the transient state is more likely if you use the darn things, it can even be caused by a butterfly flapping it's wings in China - or that is my theory anyway!

RIGHT ON BUDDY!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta feel good, enjoy the moment, enjoy the weekend. You've made great progress with lots more to go but really, we are pretty much all in the same boat....there's ALWAYS something next on the list...but now, you are mobile and can use the rig as you make improvements down the road. Keep camping, keep plugging away at the list, you'll just love it more and more and more as you go!! ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND BUDDY!

So I've never even looked at my Zip Dee awning because I haven't needed it. But now that I can hit I went to try to lower it and what do you know...

It's missing a locking reel on the left side:

and the locking reel on the right side is tied down with some baling wire:

How easy is it to replace those locking reels (or whatever they're really called and are the parts out there?

Thanks!

I believe Zip Dee parts are available only through the company direct. Go to their web site and you'll find the parts needed. $$$ but they have em.

Tap's 1981 280 Motorhome (Purchased January 2016)

Hello dear friends! This is a voice from your past. Tap is back! Do any of you remember me?

I fell off of the Airstream grid two years ago after getting frustrated with my rig and needing to just walk away from it for a (long) while. It’s just like some humans, you hate it sometimes, but love it too.

I’ve missed all of you and hope that everyone in the gang is still here and doing well.

I think I’m finally ready to get back to work on my 1981 280.

Remember this amazing group? It was such a fun gathering in Pennsylvania at Penn Wood Airstream Park in May of 2016!

Glad your back Tap!

Any chance of being ready for the spring get together?

I guess it's going to be about 1000 miles south west of you.

Welcome back Tap. Don't feel too bad about being inactive. I've been off the road for various reasons for the last three years. With retirement only 57 days away I will have time to get the rig back in shape. Hope to see you soon.

Yep, we drove from Boston down to theirs, and then on to Pennwood. We had our own Argosy section along with Matt and Christina.

Welcome Back!

As in many things in life, perspective is important. That perspective can take effort to achieve. I, too have had a lifetime of balancing the need to rebuild a 280, and live a life acceptable to my bride. It’s been quite a trip.

Good luck! Maybe this will be the year for my adventures to move out of the barn and on to the road!

Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before
"Relax," said the night man

You can check-out any time you like
But you can never leave!"
