Tap's 1981 280 Motorhome (Purchased January 2016)

Friends, today is a beautiful day!!

After over 6 months of sadness, frustration, blood (literally), sweat, tears, a lot of money, and hard work, I'm thrilled to announce that my 280 is finally able to cruise down the highway without a tow truck!

And can you believe it, I'm posting this from an RV campground! I'm on my first mini trip!

You never forget your first time! 😝😜😎

All is going very well!
I am so happy after a very rough 6 months!

Sure there's more to be fixed, but at least I can start enjoying it!

Thank you ALL for the tons of advice (so far)!

Fantastic!!! Glad she is on the road again! You still missing the window behind the driver or is it just really clean?

Plexiglass currently filling in for all three missing Windows.

Dying to replace them with glass, but just can't take on the huge job of replacing the whole frame.

Congratulations Mark,

Great to be out on the road at last.

Don't be afraid of the window replacement job. It's not the monster that you might imagine. I went through the same thing with my 325, and actually bought the window before I committed to buying the coach. I was totally intimidated initially, and fearful that I could make it more screwed up than it already was.
Have you acquired the replacement already? Once you drill out the old one, there could be a brief "what have I done?" moment, but as soon as the replacement slips into place it will all be fine. I would suggest doing all the track and weather seal replacement before installation. It's a great opportunity to cut through all the mystery, and see how the whole thing fits together.

Battle on!

Charly

Bravo, Tap! how exciting!

come visit us - just follow I-80 east, and turn left at the last exit before the George Washington Bridge.... lol

there's a great Courtesy Parking stop in Lorain County, Ohio, right off I-80, with wonderful hosts, Larry and Lou.

Great accomplishment Mark. Enjoy it as long as you can. Just realize the addiction is fully set. Once aluminumites has set in there is no escape. You can look forward to many highs and many lows. I just hope for you the highs far outnumber the lows.
