Having recently gone through the procesess of repairing the ABS front valance on my Argosy I can say that's really not as hard as it sounds to repair ABS.

I used pellets similar to these and mixed them with MEK.

There are a bunch of threads on Airforms about using ABS pellets and MEK.

I checked today and the one in my parts donor is in pretty good condition Tap, just has some small cracks in the corners.

It still has the courtesy light and the switch which turns it on when the door opens (sort of the reverse of a fridge light!).

If you want it I can try and get it out for you?

Gang, I don't know a d@mn thing about batteries, but I do know that my 280 holds 3 batteries that daisy-chain together, and that I need to buy all new ones.

I think I've heard that AGM batteries are best, but then I heard that gel batteries are best.

Which should I get? What voltage, 12? Or 6?

And what exact brand, model number, and store would be best?

Thank you SO much!

Tap, depends what you need and what equipment you have. The best are lithium, but they are pricey, and require very specific voltages during charging cycles.

Flooded are cheap, but need attention for water levels.

AGM are nice with lack of mx, but have a reduced Ah compared to flooded.

Are these for boondocking, starting, or puttering?

Hi Vycan!

I guess they would be for everything. Starting, using for interior lights, fridge at times, and I want to do boondocking, even though I don't have solar, etc.

So whatever could hold some good charge, last for quite awhile, etc.
and I'd prefer to not have to deal with maintaining water in them, and sadly I can't afford super expensive batteries.

(For boondocking I also have an Onan generator in an outdoor compartment in the rear with a starting button inside.)

I got all the screws out this afternoon Tap, but someone has been a little over zealous with the Vulkem on the corners where they meet the inner skins. If get it out when I go over to AS NE tomorrow. PM me you address and I will drop it in the mail to you.

You should have two coach and one starter battery. On my diesel the starter is also tied in with my coach for starting the diesel but on your gasser the starter maybe isolated from the coach batteries.

Vycan has gone over the types. The flooded or wet batteries can be a problem with the old univolt converter as it keeps throwing 14v at the batteries all the time if the coach is plugged into the mains, eventually the water will boil off and you will have fried your batteries if you don't maintain the levels. However if you change your Univolt to a Progressive Dynamics 12 converter with the charge Wizard, it has three charge settings and will automatically shut off and then trickle charge the batteries in order not to cook them.

There are also two types of wet and AGM cell batteries, deep cycle and auto cycle. Deep cycle are great for coach batteries as they can be depleted and recharged many times without damage, but have no starter boost stage for starting an engine. Auto boost batteries are for the one that starts your motor as it sends a big boost of energy to the starter to get things going but will be damaged if depleted all the time, so it is usually isolated from the coach batteries.

The feeling is to buy the biggest most amp deep cell wet or AGM battery for your coach batteries money can buy and will fit, then a good yellow top AGM starter battery for your engine start.

Interstate make good batteries, wet and AGM. So do Trojan, but are very pricey in comparison to Interstate, but have 200 amp/hrs 12 volt.

Cheers
Tony

Optima yellow tops give you the most flexibility for the price. Also you can get three and use them for any of your needs.

Those three would last you all night without need for engine/generator
