Suction cup dent puller

Ok, I know for the purist this will be inadequate, but for my purposes it is great! Below are before and after pics of the giant dent in my roof that has be significantly minimized with a suction cup pneumatic dent puller. The plan is to now remove the 'headliner'/plastic cap replace some wiring, foam insulate the space (to give some strength to the panel) then replace the headliner.Click image for larger version

nice work. I use(d) a car type suction cup a few times and was happy with the results. I freaked out a guy a little by pulling a dent out his Airstream that he thought was unfixable. It popped right back to its original shape.

Looks a lot better Bill. I've used a new toilet plunger to pull out car dents. Only if there's no wrinkle in the dent. A heat gun will remove some dents in plastic car bumpers. You tube can save you money... just search. Thanks for sharing

I took the same type of dent puller to a rally and pulled out some dents when people weren't around. They couldn't figure out what happened , thought the sun must have popped them back out.

Thanks for the tool tip .

It should come in handy removing the P.O. damage over the front window.

good idea

very good idea, if a person wants the totally smooth than go for it. At least you have gotten rid of most of the dent. I had one taken out of my Excella at a dealership. Overall it looks good, a person really has to look close to see what is left from the dent. I still have a dent on the rear that was done by the previous owner, I am guessing a backing int overhand. I think I will try the dent puller myself. My and I had talked about that possibility but never carried it through. Thanks for the information.

How do you know how much air pressure from the compressor to use?
Plus, it only has 4" & 5" cups. Is that small enough for small 1" to 3" dents?

The puller runs a stream of air from the compressor over an orifice that creates the vacuum in the suction cup by the Bermouilli principle (google it). Run the compressor wide open.

I also used the HF tool to minimize the damage from a driveway incident but my dent was also creased so I ended up getting the panel replaced at Out of Doors Mart. They did a great job. The panel and the rivets look original.

Google will probably still find it, but it's "Bernoulli's principle"
