Hi guys,

First, a big thanks to everyone on this list who has helped make our dream a reality. We've bought an Airstream 250 MH and will ship it back to the UK from California in a couple of months. I am having some work done in CA but need to draw up a comprehensive spares list of parts to bring back to the UK - note that they will be less available and much more expensive over here so I hope to carry back a decent stock. So guys, can you give me your best tips of stuff to bring back with me.

radiator hoses(parts houses will probably sell you the wrong ones--I would pull the old ones off, match them and get 2 sets put a new set on and carry the spares), pretty much the same with the belts--most of the mohos have a larger than stock alternators, assorted nuts, bolts, duct tape, wire, tool set, air hose for the compressor with air chuck, spare ignition module, fuel line, bulbs, etc. Pretty much what you need to keep it running to get somewhere for repairs. Fluids: oil, antifreeze, ATF. Depending on how your generator runs you may want to take some tuneup parts for it as well.
Depending on the condition of your drapes you may want to get some of the "T" or "G" tabs at an RV place. They are easy to get here and may not be available in the UK. Where are you in California? We have a rally in San Clemente in February if you are up and running! Let us know when you are coming into town and maybe we can meet up. Did you get that nice 250 up in Monterey?

Nice one Ron - we'll be doing a road trip - hopefully, Yosemite to Grand Canyon and on to Galveston, TX for shipping. Will try and catch up.

I'd like to take credit for that list, but I just saw it for the first time myself. That's all Debbie's work. Isn't she something? Good luck with the new toy. Ron

I don't know how far you want to go but:

Shocks and steering stabilizer
air bags (front and rear)
Front end parts (bell cranks, idler, sway bars, etc)
How old are the tires?
Tune up parts for the generator
Fuzzy channel and rubber parts for the windows
240 Volt converter
master cylinder
pads, rotors, and calipers for brakes, brake lines
Starter
Alternator
Ignition parts
Ignition wires
Suspension compressor
door and window gaskets
main door lock (failure prone - parts no longer available)
rub rail
gauges and sending units

Since you will be traveling in March you may want to pick up a small electrical
space heater in case you have problems with your furnace or lpg feed. Last month we had ours filled and it would not flow for the first night. It got down to 31 degrees and what ever was causing the restriction disappeared. Luckily some friends had an extra heater since we had left ours at home.
It is also a good idea to carry a small battery charger in case you have problems with your batteries.

I carry a spare ECU and CDI (ignition unit) because they are cheap and they are 2 things I cant bypass or jimmy rig to get back on the road. Next parts I'm picking up are belts and hoses. If you have a convienient source, I'd pick up those travel parts while your here. Along with any big heavy stuff you want (like sway bars). The rest of the stuff you can order off the internet from home at any given time.
