Second shake down in the Classic
Some of you know we purchased a 95 classic in Oct. We drove it from Conn. To PA and then with they help of the forums we fixed everything that we thought could be or was broken. I did some up dating to the interior, upholstered the sofa, put up a back splash in the kitchen, redid all the fabric on windows and bed in the bedroom. There are still many things we need to do or should I say want to do. But there comes a time we just have to take it on faith and go. As of Friday we started on a six week trip south. This will include the Airstream Rally in Key West and a trip to Mickey World. So far we are fine and the rig is running well, but my husband is tired at night from the stress of a new to us,piece of equipment.
We already have a punch list of things that we will do we we return and am sure there will be more.
We are now in Myrtle Beach and so happy to finally be out of the snow. We lived in SC at one time and often camped here durning the 70's in our VW camper pop top. To say the least things have changed. Will keep you posted because I am sure that we will need help along the way.

Great news! Lets see some pics?! So what are you punch list items? don't mean to ask so many questions but being in the middle of a classic reno myself, I like to see what others are doing or thinking about doing so A few years down the road I don't say: " I should have done that."
" my husband is tired at night from the stress of a new to us,piece of equipment."
I completely understand... learning all the little issues they have and the fear of dealing with the unknown.... I would suggest a good bottle of read wine or other adult beverage of his choice.
Keep us posted... oh and did I mention pictures?

That back splash is trick ! ! I want one . . . I got an 87 345 that I'm really just getting started . Have tackled mostly stuff to make the old girl road worthy . The list is all so long but taking small bites . Now with the weather breaking , no project that can't be completed in a week or so . But one thing I would like to know , what did it cost to have your couch done ?
Joe
p.s if this weather doesn't break soon I'm going to put that fool ground hog in the smoker and BBQ it .

We got a break in the weather here.
Spring forward helped to have a little daylight after work to get ready for camping this weekend.
Got the tow vehicle cleaned up.

Sofa
I did the sofa. Will never do one again. The sofa was in great condition but ugly.
This is not a job for the faint of heart or the inexperienced .
The sofa has a steel, rod frame so one can not staple it together. The sofa cushions are attached with hog rings. I had hoped to buy a pair of heavy duty hog pliers but could not find any. The one I ended up with would not go around the rods. I put some rings on with regular pliers which was not fun. My solution to this problem was to sew the cushions to the frame with twine.it took for ever.
The cushions on this sofa had many many pieces. I got confused even with the originals used as patterns. I did a lot of ripping and redoing.
What it would cost I do not know but when I get ready to replace all the furniture in the future I will find out.
I have sewn most of my life and have done a couple of upholstery projects but none this hard.

I like the backsplash. What material is that?
Did those spice bottles come with the unit or did you find them? I'm looking for something like that.

Tile,spice bottles
The spice bottles came from iIKEA and they fit behind the range and in the cabinet above the microwave. They do not interfere with any of the controls in the cabinet. They are tilted and fit very snug.
I could get you some spice bottles if you can not get to a IKEA. They might be able to get them online. I put clear bumper pads between the ones on range so they do not rattle.
The tile came from Lowes and was made by a company called EKB innovations. It was a peel and stick and so far so good. I put Aspect subway tile in my last trailer and both have their problems. I had problems getting it to stick and used construction adhesive to make sure it stayed which it did. I was afraid to use construction adhesive on this tile because I was afraid it could get all over the tile. When I had to separate them they are only one by one. They stuck very well, in fact too well. Once you put them on they were impossible to reposition .
It made a mess taking they them off. I did prime the wall paper before I started
I will put some pics on when I can get a connection which will upload.

I just reupholstered both the sofas and went thru the same hog ring disaster. I went back and reinforced the edging with web tape, inserted a heavy gauge wire in the seam and then laced the fabric to the frame. It was tedious...but well worth it, they look fabulous. I found nice foam cheap on amazon, and upholstery velvet on newtoto.com

Aluminum Backsplash
That looks great. We got some a couple of weeks ago but haven't found time to install it yet. The PO put a picture behind the cooktop and stuck it to the wall with a hot glue gun. After we had the trailer a few weeks it started coming loose and peeled the vinyl "wallpaper" off the substrate in several spots along the top and bottom of the picture. I'm going to remove the vinyl over most of the area behind the stove and up to the vent to ensure that the tile sticks to something solid. Since it is already damaged, a little more won't hurt.

Hog Rings
I got a hog ring tool and rings at my local Ace hardware store. It may help to live in an area with some agricultural interests.

I hate hog rings! I usually install metal eyelets and lace the covers on. Makes it easy to adjust and remove if needed.

Should have ask on the forums. Several ideas could have worked easier than what I did. Live and learn.
