Plasticote, also called clearcoat, typically lasts 5 to 6 years.

It then must be totally stripped and reapplied.

The roof always shows the aged out process first, but all of the coating on any Airstream that's 21 years old, is history.

I've started stripping and begun the polishing process. Only using the Truck Box Polish from Lowes at the moment, but it's not cutting through some of the tough oxidation. Any thoughts on which grade of Nuvite to start with. The finish isn't that bad, just some areas that no matter the amount of polishing, can't get rid of the oxidation.
Thanks, Derek

My 95 looks pretty good but I need to refinish the nose. Any thoughts or links to how I can match the factory clear coated finish? I do have the equipment to shoot clear coat.

Dakota, any good paint shop 'might' give you some hints. Otherwise, we're on the perfect place to find ways to accomplish our next project, AirForum! Of course, there's always Google too.
Thanks, Derek

Purdy!

At some point I want to buff it out but too many other projects have a higher priority. I think for now I'll just refinish the hood with new graphics and try to get a finish to match the rest.
