Question replacement keys for main door lock (have number)

Hi All,

Since buying my MH 4 years back, I've been living without a main door key. (Surely have had to climb through the windows a few times when it was locked by accident). I was just fishing through some dealer info in my owners manual and I found a Keeler "main door key #TR096." Anyone know a locksmith or supplier who might be able to do something with that number?

From what I understand replacing the cylinder is a bit of work.

Thanks much,

Nick

I'd ask a good locksmith, they would know if that would allow you to make a key. In the winter of 2005 I ended up having a locksmith pick my deadbolt and make a key. He did this with about an hour of trial and error and without removing the lock. I took the MH to his shop and he ran back and forth trying keys until he had it. I think he was figuring out the key one cylinder at a time.

It would be good to solve this problem since the latches built into the door are prone to catastrophic failure.

Here's the story of my adventures with this issue:http://www.airforums.com/forum...oes-19738.html

Easy, Take the number to a half decent locksmith and he can make you a key.

magic keys

livexl

Thanks a million, those keys worked perfectly. Saved me a ton of work & having to deal with locksmiths who didn't have much clue what kind of lock I had.

Many many thanks,

Nick

We recently bought a 1987 A/S Excella. There was no key for the door. I have read some of the posts on here and they mention a number. Where is the number located? We found PKE. Thanks!

Virtually all the parts for a Keeler latch assembly are no longer available, the key cylinder being one of them. I believe your best bet would be to remove the latch assembly from door which is not really that hard. There are two screws on the edge of the door and 3 screws holding the inside plate to the latch assembly. Remove those 5 screws and the latch assembly can be removed. Take it to a good locksmith and he should be able to make you a key.
