You have it. It's amazing how hot the water in the water heater gets from just that short piece of aluminum tubing welded to the tank!
The unit I installed can work on propane, 110Vac, and then the engine coolant. I did not hook up the 110Vac, since my original did not have that.

It is only welded to the tank?
I assumed it went into the tank and went thru the hot water....
My water heater was replaced right before I got my 345, so I am pretty certain its just the LPG unit. I love the idea that the hot water is ready after a drive!
I am thinking I will have to build a seperate tank for this!

Ok on my 87 345 I have a switch on the dash for aux heat. What does that do? Under sofa I see the heater I now know from this post it heats the hot water. I will check it out if mine is still hooked up. There is also a cable under there to open and close or turn off. Is that for the heat or for the hot water. Sorry if this is a silly question, but I just got the 345 few months ago. Thanks for any answers.

the cable and pull knob is for the coach heating unit to receive hot fluid. Pull to actuate the heater. You can control the fan on the dash. Aux. heat High or low. off mode

Is that aux heat for the people down by the sofa? And did I understand right if working properly it will heat the hot water?

To clarify..
The Aux heater under the rear third of the sofa has a pull knob under the sofa(see my first pic right side of pic). This controls flow of coolant from the engine to the heater core. The dash switch then controls the fan speed. The heated air comes out of the vent in the toe board under the rear edge of the sofa!
The water heater function is actually in the water heater...
Did I get this right now???

Hot water

I've always wondered about the "AUX-HEAT" switch that was on my dash; couldn't figure out what it was supposed to do; but it turns out that my coach never came equipped with the "AUX" heater core/unit in the first place, just the switch. So thanks for clearing up that question.

Regarding hot water production, can anyone recommend a unit that uses propane, as well as circulated engine coolant to heat water? My rig came to me with only an electric heater, and no generator. I hate to think that I need a hook-up just to get a hot shower. THANKS.

Hot Water

6 Gallon Water Heater w motoraid & DSI

Most now are propane and ac electric for shore power use.
What is nice about the Motoraid, (FREE HOT WATER) is you can get on the road early and have the shower at the coffee stop on the way. When you resume the trip the air circulation helps get rid of the moisture on those dull days.
