Rear Airbags for a 1984 345... need part #'s.

Spent several hours looking thru the forums here and elsewhere looking for the part Number for the rear aibags, on my 1984 345.
I came up with this one, but am a little confused between model years and lengths...

W01-358-5412
or..
<LI class=alt>Firestone Bellows Number:1T14C-3 or 1T14F-4American Carrier Number:8003-011
<LI class=alt>Holland (Neway) Number:900-57-057
Can ayone confirm?

Wish I could help Steve, believe somewhere I've read the actual part number is stamped on the bottom of the airbag? If I can find anything, I'll be sure to post.

Thanks Dan.
Just trying to compile a list of parts I need, and could not be sure based on what I was reading...
We really need to get some of these things all compiled in one place, so its easier to find!

Front Air Bags on my 345 are on separate air valves. Rear bags are connected to a tank, with a 12V pump under the bed in mine.
Steve, maybe a 'sticky' thread with parts numbers. Know Dean (dadstoy) would sure appreciate it if someone could help him with radiator hose parts #'s.

Paula, from what I see and know, the 345's system is very different, with a Compressor, Tank, and load leveling valves. The system is designed to keep the weight balanced between the drive and Tag axle.

Actually Bandit lunged at one of the workers.

Bandit was inside the MH with us and a worker came to the door--Bandit appeared to not be pleased....yikes...I don't think he would bite but since he is a rescue dog I don't know what his past was about and every once in awhile, he lunges at someone.....usually a worker with a cap and dark clothing....of course the guy put his face right in front of Bandit....perhaps Bandit felt threatened.....he also lunged at someone at the salvage yard.....I am always on alert....he is unpredictable....on the other hand, he thinks he is a lap dog and it is possible he just wants to play.....I just can't afford to find out........p

Air bag systems are pretty simple but Airstream did make a few changes over the years. Post a couple of pics of your system and it should be easy to identify.

That is the basic American Carrier System set up as on my 280. I'm not sure how it is set up to tie in with your tag axle. There is a video floating around here somewhere from Airstream sales showing how the coach can climb a curb allowing the suspension to flex enough to keep both axles/tires on the ground at all times.

From the picture your ride height is way too high. There are two dimensions given, one is 8 3/4" top of bottom crossmember to bottom of upper crossmember. The other is 10 3/4" I think. There was a change somewhere around '82/83'. The rubber of the bags should be down over the lower aluminum cone and the "dog bone" cross link in the first picture should be nearly horizontal rather than at the angle in the picture. This may be because you are up on on your leveling jacks. Remember also if you get too high that the wheels lose traction you also lose your parking brake. Use some good wheel chocks.

If you need to you can adjust the ride height at the leveling valve, the arm can be adjusted on the valve itself or if you want to take the easy way out, you can bend the link that connects the valve to the lower crossmember.

Cheers, Dan

Yes, it was way high, as I had it up on the jacks.

I too spent some time looking for the correct airbag and came up with the same number. W01-358-5412, Firestone Reversible Sleeve Air Spring, Airide Springs, Airide Air Bags - TruckSpring.com

However when I called them and mentioned it was for a motorhome on P30 chassis they said they had some kind of kit and he was not sure where I got this number from. So I took some photos, not the best and no p number in sight so will try again.

That price on the website is for one bag only!

No compressor or exterior valves to fill the bags?

The air bags are just that, bags that hold air. They really don't care how you fill them, they still work the same in your suspension. You put so much air in them and they hold your vehicle up, absorb road bumps and give you a comfortable ride. The height adjusting valve and on board air supply/compressor simply adjusts the pressure in the bags to maintain a constant ride height with varying vehicle weight. This is important on a truck or a bus. The biggest advantage of air bags on an RV is a smoother ride. The on board compressor just means you don't have to check them everyday like you do your tires unless you have one of the high dollar coaches that uses the air suspension to level the coach at your campsite. If you don't have a leveling valve and compressor and want one it's pretty easy to add if you feel the need.

Cheers, Dan

So AS built a coach with air bags and no way to keep the pressure up? Sounds nuts to me.
