proud new owner of a 1983 Airstream 310

I have just purchased a great oldie, it has 65k miles on it and 10k on a rebuild, runs great. Need to have some things checked out, maybe replace some older units, ie. fridge, a/c, etc. Any manuals out there for this one?

Thanks

Scott

thanks, how do i get the Numbers for the Airstream club

This is my second airstream... my first was a 1967 27' landyacht, it was lost in an accident on the I 10 east of LA, a sad day indeed. I used to pull that with a 1968 International Harvester (pre suburban!) What a site we were, best adventures were music festivals in northern cal.

Is the product I saw on ebay to shine the skin a good one? The guy was selling an older airstream he had polished with it.

Any good repair facilities in northern cal?

Thanks

Welcome, always nice to have new members especially with a classic motorhome. While I'm saying hi, here's a link to a forum rally in northern California in August: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f288...0-a-39620.html

Here's the information re manuals:

Helen Davis, Secretarial Services, PO Box 484, Sidney, OH 45365; (937) 492-8885. Copies of owner's manuals and service manuals available for models going back to mid-1960s.

I use Hutchins Auto Repair, 3104 Bechelli Lane, Redding For chassis work. They seem to do a reasonable job. For suspension work I highly recommend Henderson Line-up in Grants Pass, they are the manufacturer of the Super Steer line of after market products for the P30 Chassis. They are a long way away and not cheap but I think they are worth it. If that is too far for you there is a shop in Redding that they send people to. I don't recall the name but if you call Henderson they should be able give you a referral.

Within the parlance of the forum, our 310's are Classic Motorhomes. You will find a lot of information on them if you search in that forum.

My 310 was painted by a PO so I have never considered polishing but i have read here that there can be complications with the end caps or something, depending on the year.

Again,

Welcome

Scott, you should know that the skin isn't aluminum - it's a metallic sandwich with copper in the middle of two very thin aluminum sheets. Polishing will easily and quickly expose the copper, and you'll have a lovely pink moho - - until it turns green.

Hey Scott! Welcome, from one new Airstream motorhomer to another (is that a word?).

This is all the only document I could find for you: https://www.airstream.com/wp-content...ccef5e501f.pdf.

I have a PDF and physical copy of the full manual for our 290. I refer to the binder most often but it's nice to have the PDF in case I'm out and about. (I prefer toting my smartphone vs. a backpack.)

I also found it helpful to have a PDF of the service manual for the chassis (1987 Chevy P30). There isn't much useful about it in the Airstream manual.

So scotdo almost 10 years in, how has the airstream motorhome life been for you? I read through the 15 comments on this thread and it looks like a whole different group of people. So where do you see classic airstream motorhomes going forward? ( 9 years is quite a length of time on these old coaches, what do you see that's changed specifically in the airstream culture surrounding these coaches?
