Maybe it was temporary.... I had the same problem yesterday evening, but all seemed back to normal this morning.

The server servicing this site can be bloody tempermental as I tried to upload a photo taken of my visor sticker to a thread, and it failed to upload three times. The site also bogs down constantly.

Just be patient and keep trying.

Cheers
Tony

Ive had the best luck using Iphone or Ipad and the Airforums app. You can post pics directly from your devices picture storage.

What format is your picture? By that I mean what are the three letters after the file name, like .jpg or .bmp etc.

They're JPG and are usually less than 2MB

Another option is to post your photo to Photobucket.com (or any other online site) and then insert a link to your photo preceded by "" - but without the quotes. For example...

""

The benefit of doing this is you can assemble a single online library of all your photos and use the link to any photo anywhere and anytime. One photo can be linked to over and over. It doesn't consume storage on the site. It doesn't have any size limitations. Plus, if you ever want to remove your photos, just remove them from your library and they will disappear from anywhere they had been posted.

Here's an example...

A 2MB picture may well be under the size limit, but any glitch or interruption in uploading will cause problems. We are on a satellite link and I would never attempt to upload a file that big. Try uploading a picture of, say, 300kB and see if that works. Unless you want to show some very fine detail, there really is no need to post pictures much larger than that in any case.

I note that Dan's excellent and very clear picture above is 352kB.

Bob makes an excellent point. You really only need a picture that is 600 pixels wide... 800 at the most, to render nicely online. You can resize the photo in Photobucket (or whatever) when you upload it and save it as a new photo to use for links. A 600x400 photo is only 240KB.

My photo above is more like 800 x 530. My original image from my phone camera is much larger - but I generally resize my photos for a blog.
