Plastic "weep cups", anyone?

The little plastic "weep cups" under the front side windows on our '84 310 are perishing about as fast as beer-drinking-pickup-driving-teenagers in our county. It seems they (the plastic things, not the teens) attach by tiny plastic hooks that break off if you wash the exterior or drive on a windy day. All that said, I need to acquire a half-dozen of the things. Any suggestions?

Jamie- I also would try Andy first but if he doesn't have them try Airstream in Jackson Center as that's where we bought ours while on a visit there. Be prepared to spend way more than one would guess. Our 345 has two seperate sizes.

Inland RV has the covers in both sizes. All you will need is pop rivets to secure them. Front windows take the smaller size Rear windows the larger.

Nearly all of the weep hole covers have fallen off on my 280, and while I always feel like I *should* replace them, I don't really know why. In fact, I question why they are needed in the first place. Rain doesn't flow into my camper, I don't hear wild whistling sounds while driving, and it's no more breezy than it ever is in the winter.

This may be sacrilegious, but why do we keep replacing these tiny expensive plastic plugs?

Oasis RV in Tucson had them last year, but they are pricey little puppies...I think they were $14 apiece...I have opted to go with the lean look...

No, those are not for the motor homes.

Those weep hole covers are for the "SEGI" trailer windows, only.


They will not fit the classic motorhomes.

Unfortunately, those are not the correct ones. I know they have some, because I used some on a 345 recently, but there isn't a photo or listing on the website.

My mind says some small tent like pieces of aluminum over the holes.

Yes, I think they're a bit pricey. If they fit more "stuff", I'm sure the economies of quantity would come into play, and the per piece price would come down a lot. If someone could come up with a use for a million of them, the price would probably come down to a dollar each or so.

When I had my 350LE i got frustrated with the plastic weep hole covers. The would break off very easily or turn a chalky white from the Sun. I fashioned replacements out of aluminum channel stock that you can buy at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. If you're creative and spend some time on making them they can look more like an Airstream part than the plastic things. They also will last for a long, long time.

Trying to salvage damaged ones, I used sealant to help hold mine on; that helped keep them from dropping off, to some extent.

Oh, and I can't help remembering how I felt when I broke one by careless riveting!

delaware, can you post some sort of drawing or pix as to how you fabricated the covers? Did you leave the ends open? will try to do it, the idea is great!

raveson - Sorry that I don't have pictures or drawings to post. I did leave the ends open for drainage from the window channels. You shouldn't have any problems if you have some basic tools like a grinder, files, etc. Good luck!
