Just pulled into Flagstaff. Our "mile-a-meter" shows 1547 miles. I figured the test would be today when we pushed from Kingman to Flag, some steep climbs and it was hot! Bess did fine. No oil burned, period, here's the dipstick, other than the color, it's the same as when we left. Whew!

Thats great news Mike!
Always scares me when I pull the dipstick on my Mercedes Diesel and see the oil so dark even after a few hundred miles!

If you had any cylinder damage that oil would be blacker-n-soot. Oil that clean at 1000 miles is a sign of a good tight engine.

That's what I figured, as well. You can imagine, the first couple of dipstick checks I did after we left were scary. She stayed clean until about 400 miles, which is normal for this Isuzu.

I'd be freaking out the whole trip every time I checked the oil. It must have been an "exciting" ride. I guess a new turbo in exchange for days of anxiety comes out about equal.

I was freaking out, and had considered going out Oregon I-84 and down through Utah just in case she blew and I'd be on the interstates to get a tow to "Goober Engine Service".
