Ohio? Recommend a front alignment center

Hello, Over the years my wife and I have owned 2 Airstream Trailers and truly loved camping with our 4 children and their friends.

We have now recently purchased a 1989 345 and drove her home from Witchitaw Falls Texas, A delightful trip full of pleasant adventure. Now that is a story in itself. When we picked her up, after a late night flight. ALL the batteries were Cooked, and on the way home we discovered that none of the propane furnaces were in the proper location, P.O. did say they heated with electric heaters set around ?

So with ALL new tires and 2 new furnaces! Plus another $5,000. spent on a full set of Zip Dee awnings and other Misc. items I am Looking to get the Front end Aligned before we head to Florida for the winter.

The Coach is in Findlay now and will be in the Marion area in 2 weeks. Then down through Columbus down I-75

Does AirStream at Jackson Center do alignments, Or work on Airbags ???

We are also New on this forum and sure do appreciate ALL of the VERY Good information.

John and Sharon Haggard

Find a level spot, measure all four corners. No spring shop likes the AS air bag system. We finally had our's
ripped out and replaced with real stuff.

Hello Mike, I have no problem with that Idea !!!

What system did you use to replace the A.S. air bag system ???

and has any one else done the same thing ???

Right now I would just like to find a good front end shop, familiar with the P30 chassis and front end system !!!

What ever you do do not take your rig to Airstream for alignment. Unless they have spent significant monies on new equipment they could not align a row of straws.

Voice of experience.

Find a good truck spring or truck alignment shop. I went to Gommer's in Chambersberg Pa after hauling out to Ohio and finding they had done nothing.

HMMMM, I do get the distinct feeling that some owners feel a lack of ! Support, Service from the Jackson Center people concerning the Motor Home Model ???

The ones on the Forum that seem to be happy have a good local dealer for support if I read these post's correctly ???

JR's RV. center and Ruth's at Helena have been our service providers for the past 20 or so years.

There used to be a Forns ? and Easter tire , front end service in Findlay so I will give them a call !!!

THE P-30 is a bread truck chassis, any good spring shop will know all about them, including the bell cranks.

I second Howie's suggestion. Go to a shop that specializes in big rig suspension, and alignment. I work in one, but we are in California.
We do motorhomes all the time.
Call around and ask alot of questions. You might call some of the dealerships in the area like Peterbilt, or Freightliner and ask who they use.
Good Luck!

I am from the Findlay area. You found a good guy with JR. They work on my 1978 Ambassador when I can't figure it out. Easter Tire has been bought out by another company and does not do alignments anymore. I was just there today. Try Sparks Goodyear...besides cars they have a heavy truck center that can probably do your alignment. They are on S.R. 12 towards Arcadia.

There is a Peterbilt shop on S.R. 224 just west of I-75 in Findlay.

Thank You tlavergne, I will call Sparks Monday

Jr told me he is retiring December the 1st. and moving to Florida where he purchased a home this past month.

He is quite an expert on the Airstream Brand and will be missed in the Ohio area.

So JR's RV center will be closed by December 1st. unless some one comes along and Buys the going business and continues the service.

That is a shame for us but good for JR. He worked on my Grandparents Airstreams back in the 70's. Low key guy with a lot of knowledge.

I remember when Putnams, of the corn seed co. 4acres, West of Kenton owned and were very involved with Airstream in Ohio.
