I know which end of a screwdriver can hurt me the worst, but I'm still happy with my 345...
We put Michelin on ours...not gonna say they're better or worse...I'm comfortable with my choice.
So, WHERE is Ol' Gert???

The seller put a new set of "Gold Coin" tires on our 310 last year before we bought it. Having never heard of the brand, I was a little skeptical. They have taken us from Denver to San Diego to San Francisco to Montana to San Antonio with no problems, and still look new.

1982 24' Airstream Motorhome
She is now in Los Angeles. We are so excited. She is near LAX so if you have a layover at LAX, let us know and you can have a tour.
I have tried to post pictures 3 times and my computer keeps freezing. Maybe my pics are too big. So I will post this and try to post pics later. Paula

More pics
I don't remember that there were so many scratches when I was in FL......hmmm
This is the vehicle identification number that Jackson Center uses....this is not the title VIN.....it is a 1982 24' rear bath Jackson Center built Airstream Motorhome.

Good sounds like you solved the vin number issue. Yes, the other number stamped on a much smaller metal plate is the vin. Curious, the number you have in your pic...was Airstream able to ID the MH with this number? (I have both as well)

A sign of relief that she made it to S CA.......
Have to tell you that this whole purchase has had me on edge.....I first saw it on ebay and we vowed never ever to purchase another Airstream on ebay (I bought our first one-1969 Overlander on ebay) before I really knew anything about rear end separation and rotten rear bath floors.....but when this one popped up without an auction.....just a buy it now price with nothing down until inspected.....I decided to fly to Ft. Lauderdale on my way home from Chicago and take a look.
I found a mobile mechanic on line who agreed to meet me for an inspection. He gave me a laundry list of things that needed to be fixed.....I consulted with folks back in CA....Keyair, Uwe, Silverpal2, my car mechanic, and my husband among others....I got lots of encouragement to go for it as well as don't touch it because it will be too hard to smog in CA to it will be easy to find parts for a 454 to it's a gas guzzler......I made a offer that was refused and felt an initial sigh of relief.....next day I went shopping at a flea market waiting for my flight home the following day......that night I changed my mind and texted the seller (pawn broker who bought it from an estate sale) another offer in the morning before going to the airport.....he countered and we agreed....
I dropped by the used car lot where it was being sold and signed a bill of sale....gave them $60 in cash (all the cash I had on me) to hold it until we could wire the money...which I tried to do from the lot......then I flew home.....with the 3 hour time difference and the very long Southwest flight that stopped in ST. Louis, the bank was trying to reach me ; I made a mistake on the wire form.......I couldn't do anything about it because I was on the plane.
On Monday I corrected the wire transfer form and off my money went to Florida and the sellers then had my money, the title and the vehicle. All I had at that point was a Bill of Sale. It took a week for me to receive the title but I did receive it....meanwhile I was trying to find a hauler....and the Airstream was still showing on ebay.....yikes.....I worried and worried.
I posted on Uship what I needed and a guy found me from Indio, CA who was making a drop in FL and needed something to bring back. Voila.....it all worked out and everyone did what they said they would do......Was I nervous? You bet.
Thank you to all who posted and sent encouragement our way......the guy that looked at it today said that at least it had not been in an accident.....he could tell that....and that is good news.....so stand by.....I will keep posting our progress here....thanks to Keyair who started this thread and the ball rolling and sent lots of advice and encouragement...hope to meet him in person soon.
There is a beautiful 4 color sales brochure inside the mh that I have scanned....will share with anyone who would like it....just pm me....it is 6 mb....it only mentions 28' and 31' models....guess they weren't selling many 24 footers.....thanks again. paula

Well, Jim at Airstream told me that it was a 1982 24' center bath Argosy but I have been able to figure out from that second number that it is a 1982 Airstream....
CA DMV told me that 17 digit VINs were required in 1983 so we should be okay with the 15 digit VIN. CA will add the first 2 digits to the CA title. (I hope). paula

LOL, Paula...
After a day buffing, it looks like someone stole half of your classic!
LOL, Congrats!
I was glad to be part of this story and help!
At the end of the day, its what you wanted, and it was calling your name!
Cost is only a part of the story, and I think the chance of finding another 24' in this nice condition after 30 years is slim.
Grinning for you!

The 4 colors are really really bright.....and yes, the 31' is quite the beauty.....except maybe that bedspread. Do you have the trash compactor or the optional ice maker in your MH? paula
