Good to hear you got the transportation issue resolved. I know all about finding something special (at least to me), negotiating, and paying more than you really wanted to. The one thing that really impressed me was how spacious the interior seemed with all the big windows.

A little advice from the members and some DIY can save you bunches of money.

Good luck with it.

I almost walked away

I flew to Florida and hired a mechanic to inspect the motor parts of the MH and was almost overwhelmed by the things that needed to be fixed just to drive her to California which was our original plan...... (new tires, brakes, radiator, exhaust leak, holes in the mufflers, no smog, dark transmission fluid, differential needing service---what is a differential anyway? The difference between the asking price and the offer? to name a few of the things) so I made an offer to the seller that was not accepted and I spent the next day at a local FL flea market trying to let go of the whole idea.

But I kept thinking about how huge and spacious it felt inside without any walls except for the rear bath and it was only 24 feet long and I went on the web trying to find others like it---even on Fred's Vintage Airstream and nada......(and I made some phone calls home to people I trust who gave me information, encouragement and discouragement)....so before catching my plane home I texted the seller another offer, we agreed, I went to his place of business and signed the paperwork and gave him a miniscule amount of money to hold it (all I had in my wallet because I wasn't planning on buying it at that point)......there were and are lots of obstacles and a very big leap of faith on my part......I am hoping things fall into place and am doing my best to make that happen.

Thanks for the support.
paula

Photo of MH on flatbed

I received a text message with a photo showing the MH on the flatbed hopefully on her way to California.....not sure how to transfer the text message to my computer to be able to post on line here so you guys know what to look for....

By the way, I was told I need to have the air suspension system checked when I get the brakes and tires changed....what do I need to know about the air suspension system and who can check that? A regular tire place? Thanks, paula

I'd first try a search within the Classic section concerning the Airbags. I used to have all sorts of links for replacement airbags, then 'puter took a jump off the edge, so having to start all over again.
Sure there's TONS out there on the forum. Use the 'Advanced Search' feature, scroll down to motorhome section, and search away from there. It's very possible the rig has sat for so long, air has seeped out of system, and no longer than it was run to get onto flatbed (or was it even started?) the engine just needed to run, in order to start the 12V airpump.
I'd say, start with the airpump, make sure it's working, and go from there. From what I remember, airbags aren't too terribly expensive, around $150 each, it's going to be the labor that's gonna hurt.
Thanks, Derek

Awesome news Paula!

When I get a pic in a text and want to save it or post it I fwd it to my email from my phone... save it to my computer, then upload it to wherever I want it.
Would love to see the progress!

I got your email question about tires, and suggest you post that or look in the Argosy M/H section... I think they had 16" wheels?
Maybe someone will have been thru that there?

SWEET!
Oh Paula, I am Jealous now...
She has a SteSpot-Light!

Tire choice is first and foremost based on the weight they carry.
We need to figure out the weight, front and rear, then we can work out what to select.
