Yes, it is theoretically the most cost effective way to do it, as you say, thus stuff will need to be fixed anyway.

Its not my call, it up to the new owner... I just offered to help!

Yes, Tires and radiator fix, a full tune up, keep the old belts and hoses if they are servicable, and hit the road!

Steve, any idea if there was a website where they found the 24? 16's are going to be easy to find in that area, should they consider doing some of the work before getting rig to CA. Keep us posted.
Thanks, Derek

I didn't pay any taxes to the state of Washington when I bought mine in August. The taxes were paid in Colordo when I registered it.

I would be more concerned with insurance, especially ROADSIDE SERVICE. Is the new owner monitoring this thread? He should be.

They loved the little peanut so much they bought it!

They could:
Ship it.
Have it fixed and drive it back.

I have offered to do the driving and figure out what are the priority fixes for such a trip.... It is near Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale in Florida.. so 2800 miles to get it to its new home!
They had it inspected, and it needs:
Tires x 6, but they are 16" wheels, so easier to find methinks.
Both mufflers are holed, and it has a leaky manifold.
Radiator leak, and overflow reservior is cracked.
A full service and fluid changes.

Any suggestions for Tire/Muffler/Radiator shops in that area?
I have all of these things and would part with them for a fair price! I am only a 4hr drive from Fort Lauderdale call me I will pm you my number.

If you don't register it in Florida and request a temp tag from California you do not pay Florida just California tax. That being said would it not be better to just get Florida tags so that you do not have to do SMOG and the like, there is no such thing in Florida!

Mine is registered in Oregon to are property out there saved some $1,500 in taxes and I like the plate

If its a private party sale I wouldn't document the transaction for any more than the NADA which would be pretty low.

You don't have to pay Florida State Sales tax, do what AirRowan suggests, get a temp CA tag if you're going to drive it to California. If being trucked, no reason to do anything till it arrives in CA. But, like AirRowan points out, if registered in Florida, you wouldn't have to smog it until you get it registered in CA, and depending on who's watching, FL registration could go as long as you like.

Assuming the deal is already done, is that the one on Ebay in Hollywood? Looks very nice. I'd drive that to California.
