Great news Paula!
Get some measurements and a idea where the inlet and outlets are for the water tank and lets find a reasonable price for one!
The shift indicator is a pretty simple affair, with a cable and spring attached to the shift lever... I can grab you one from the Junk yard next week if you need...
The steering column from the later coaches is adjustable, so I would think/hope you could transplant one in... again, plenty of C/K Pickup trucks/Blazers and Suburbans in the JY's I visit... and the one in my 345 seems identical to the one in my '87 Suburban.

Congrats Paula. We are going to Yosemite April 23rd...will you be ready?
Most of the generators will not run if the oil is low. They have a low oil switch on them. Check that first. Then make sure you change the oil and filter in the generator. Next, I would change the spark plugs. You might be surprised at that point how well it might run! What generator do you have?
My '82 280 has a tilt steering wheel from the factory. I'm surprised yours doesn't.
When you get that detailed list from your mechanic, send me the exact make and part number of the upper radiator hose. I have the same vertical radiator that you do. I have the bottom hose, but still confused as to what top hose is used.
The DMV will also verify your VIN#.
Again Congrats!
Dean

Yes, the shift indicater seems to be a simple affair but with the horn not working and the lack of ajustability, I just may want to replace the whole column. The shop is amenable for my friend to work there for the water tank valves if he will. I didn't want to move on to other things until I was sure she was smoggable......is that a word? It has been suggested that we register out of state but I didn't want to do that...besides, I don't really want to pollute more than I have to.....I was a little surprised at how big she seemed yesterday....and sort of clunky in that the pedals take effort...and I am short so they are going to move the seat forward so I can reach better. She did have pick up....she seemed more nimble that a Isuzu diesel Airstream MH 28' that I drove.....maybe or maybe not. Anyway nimble may not be the correct adjective....I looked at BVans but after having our Ambassador with a screen door.....I just needed to have aluminum.....and this floorplan makes it feel huge inside....no walls except for the rear bath. p

Thanks for the support.
The shop that has been doing the work does a lot of work for cops and they have promised to have one of them verify so I don't have to go to the DMV for that part.
No tilt on ours.....or if it is, it is not visible...
Plan to get that hose part number for you.
Onan 4.0, I think. will check those things....
Where are you going in Yosemite? p

We are staying at Upper Pines campground in the valley from Apr 23 through the 28th. There may not be any spaces left at this point but if you or anyone is interested, you can check at www.recreation.gov.
Will not be pulling a car. We bring our bicycles and use the bus system in the valley.

Paula, the Steering wheel does not move much... just the angle really. The adjustment lever is right behind the turn signal stalk on the LH side of the column... It does unscrew, so could have been removed or fallen out!

seat
Hi Paula,
I am vertically challenged as well, so I have the seat as far in as it can go and do find that braking requires some effort. As for the turns and stops, you'll get used to.
Good luck,
Sonia

Paula, here is my tilt steering wheel. The small lever is the tilt lever. Here is the range of tilt that I have.

Hard to understand what happened to the gear indicator. Depending on the horn configuration, you will have a fuse under the dash and a relay in the front compartment if you've got roof-mounted horns. It could be something so simple as a bad ground.

I don't know about the gear indicator either. I don't remember it being missing when I test drove Suite P in Florida but then again I must have been delusional in the Florida sunlight to think that buying her and schlepping her back to get her smogged in California was a great idea. I think I was taken by the fact that she was only 24 feet long and she feels huge inside inspite of that. I keep telling myself that this is all a good idea in spite of the fact that we are not handy, have no place to work on her ourselves if we were and we live really far away from Keyair.
There are horns on the top and they are checking....I will suggest to look at the fuse and relay for a bad ground. Thanks for the input.

Does the Tilt make it better for you Paula?
If its still an issue, I will take a look tomorrow at mine and figure out if its possible to space the upper mouting away from the dash and closer to the driver.

Steve, if you're able to figure out how to 'space the upper mounting away from the dash' I'd love to know. Even with Steering Wheel tilted all the way 'down', I can't read half of my gauges. Mostly annoying more than anything. I do remember driving around town in 2nd gear because I'm unable to see the gear selector indicator, lol.
Thanks, Derek
