Mystery brown switch

My 89 345 has a brown switch located in the area in question. It has momentary positions to left & right while it's normal position is in the center. My switch turns the generator on/off.

We also have a switch that resembles that one. It is located over the sink and is used to start and stop the generator. There is another on the dash, and one more on the genset itself.

Pretty much the same here, one on the dash, one on the control panel above the fridge and one in the generator compartment.

Mystery Swith not a mystery - it's a puzzle

Hi, y'all -
A mystery can have no solution; a puzzle does have one which is just not known at the moment.
You're missing out on step #1 - diagnosis. Press the "mystery" swith to the left position and let go - does it go back to center by itself? If so, it is the generator start/stop - one of several located in what A/S thought would be convenient places from which you might want to start or stop 120v power.

Jag, when you have the photo available on your computer just click on the manage attachments button down below the submit reply button. A dialog box will open allowing you to browse and select your photos. Remember to upload them before exiting this dialog box.

Size matters and there is a max size so don't shoot at high res. and expect to be able to load a 13mb image.....

the top pic is the parts of the switch that popped out one day as I discovered them.
the second pic is the rest of the rocker type switch that is still mounted above and to the right of the t.v.

JaG,

That doesn't look like any switch in our 310. Hopefully the 345 owners can shed some light.

Nothing like it in our 1989 345.
That very well could be a FC

From the details of the switch oinsides per your pic, that was one of the genset start-stop switches. I guess A/S thought you might want genset power to watch TV. Maybe if you're too lazy to go outside to start the thing?

Well, it seems that it was meant to be a mystery. So I guess it may remain so until I pull the panel off and chase down the wiring. Guess I already have several other things to do before I chase down that gremlin.

The switch in Klattu's photo of the flux capacitor is no longer a mystery to me. I found out what it does by playing with it one day when I was truely bored. My 89 345 has 3 overhead flourescent fixtures. 2 of them are controled by the high/low switch by the entrance. The "mystery switch" is a master switch for the third light located over the sink. I'm talking about the one directly over your head & not the light mounted under the cabinet. If the switch is on, you can control the light using the switch located on the light fixture itself or via the "mystery switch". If the switch is off, the light fixture stays dark no matter how many times you flip the switch located on the light itself. Now, if only I can figure out how to get 110 volts out of my enr while using battery power. I'll look for your answers on a soon to be posted thread

The "Flux Capacitor" switch controls the ceiling light above your head while standing at the sink. Much like the light switch (the one with the hi/lo option) by the entry door controls the ceiling lights.

Yet Another Mystery switch.

While on the topic of mystery switches I found one in my 76 Overlander. It's located behind the curtain over the center bed on the curb or right inside the AS. I've switched it several times and have yet found out what the heck it's for.

Have you tried switching it off with the radio on. I ahve heard that some units came with power switches to the radio or switches to turn off the speakers.

Good call Chris...
Maybe a hot water switch, but my water heater is a replacement and is only gas I think... either way its a stupid place to put it... unless you really felt the need to switch the hot water on with your foot whilst still in bed!

Keyair LMAO maybe it's for a receptacle that an electric blanket plugs into and then you can use your toes to turn it on or off.

Looks like a one-dimensional Rubik's cube...is there a specific button, or is it truly a cube/sudoki...?
