Mystery Motor Home!

Can anyone tell me what this is? I saw it in our local storage yard. Looks as if it hasn't been moved in years. It about 17-20 feet long and appears from the light style to be from the 40's. I'd purchase it if I knew who the owner was!

Wow!

You've titled that right - it is a mystery. More pics please. I'd say whatever it is, someone with real skills put it together. Looks like it started out as a trailer and someone converted it to a motorized home.
That rear door really intrigues me - looks "factory" quality, but I've never seen anything quite like it. I'll be watching to see what the vintage experts say.

More pictures would be great!

Paula

Without more telling images, I see early VW Bus split glass in front, and mid sixties VW sedan rear glass in back door. Is hinge on back door circa '66 AS?

The hinge on the back does look like a later model airstream hinge.
The door also looks like it is wider than the typical AS door. Possibly a conversion of some other aircraft style brand?

In the mid to late 70's, before there was such a thing as an Airstream MH I spotted one in a rest area in Ohio. I turned around and went back. The owner had married an Olds Toranodo front end to a newer Airstream and it was very well done.
I should have some slides of it buried somewhere at home

Nawww…either JATO's (Jet Asist Take Off) or RATO's (Rocket Asist Take Off). I'm leaning towards JATO's burning kerosene. Powering this rig is a multi fuel inline Perkins 6 cylinder out of a M35 Deuce and a half, which also runs on kerosene.

Someones dead right on the VW front end…..good eye.

Does anyone know who owns it. Sure looks like an L-77 door lock mechanism.

Lots of vehicles before the early '50s had split windshields. The '54 Chevy pickup I rebuilt was the first year they had a full windshield, sure wish I'd have kept it, would look so great pulling my vintage AS.

Mystery MH

From what I could see the stack mounted 'things' on the front end sides are lights stacked one on another. 4 each side, eight total. Here are some more photos.

When you get a chance. Would you get a close up shot of the side door handle assembly?
From what I can see. It looks like it has one of the door handles I make.
They have only been around for about 3 years. If that is the case. It has had some recent work done.
