Thanks Bob, I’m also thinking I need to find replacement straps, they are pretty badly rusted. You wouldn’t happen to have any info on those would you? I’m thinking I’ll have to find a way to make some off the shelf heavy duty truck straps work.

Those straps are real hard to work around when dropping the tank.
I replaced mine with generic flat stock. And welded henges on the side opposition the bolts, so the straps can be removed for tank removal.
There are details about the straps and the sender that I used here.

All the best in your projects.

My straps were in great shape......maybe I shouldn’t have said that as mike would say.....in any event, Richard did a pretty cool job with the hinges on his straps, but if that doesn’t work for you I would try Mill Supply and look under step van replacement gas tank/strap parts, just got some ordered up for my Snap-On truck last week. Regards, Bob

PS, I would get rid of that drain valve under the gas tank, you’re asking for trouble if you hit some road debris.....it’ll snap that valve right off and then you’ll be a molitoff cocktail driving down the highway ! Regards, Bob

Totally agree I’m going to plug it and have them seal it in with the coating they are applying. Thanks for the strap information!

Here is the link, they are about 1/4 the price of the Grote ones and have great reviews. For the price I think they are a excellent value.

Double check they have a DOT number stamped on them. Keyair ordered some lights that were purportedly DOT approved in the item description, and found they were not.
I'd be interested in these as well, but my "price too good to be true" internal alarm is beeping.
How do they compare with lumens to the Grote's?
Cheers

You can see DOT SAE molded in in the amazon pics
$160 for a set doesn't send off too good to be true alarms for me

Got a $90 set of 4 used (returned) on Amazon and installed today
I haven't had a chance to road test yet but I'm excited to, very literally a night and day difference
On the bottom high beam connectors I used the supplied adapter, on the top I just swapped the pins around, more details in my thread
