I know I am a newbie here, so bear with me please.
Are you talking VIN numbers or is there some mystery number hanging around that no one with out the secret handshake can find?
When you talk about year, are you talking about build date or title year? Sometimes different.
My 28' Excella has a September 1981 build date, but is titled a 1982. If you are talking VIN's, my last four digits are 0478.
Hope this is of some help.
Steve
Steve,
I'm no expert on this either, but they're talking about the number Airstream puts on each one, not the V.I.N., which is on the left front dash. The Airstream number on my coach is on a metal tag outside behind the engine cover (hood) on the right side (front passenger side) and the number is written vertically. Most of the numbers start with 1A----. My V.I.N. is entirely different from my Airstream number. By the way, my 1989 370 MoHo Airstream number ends with 011220. Perhaps in the 7 years between yours and mine they built a total of almost 11,000, but that doesn't seem likely.
Noticed you're from Norfolk, VA. I'm just across the tunnel in Chesapeake, near Deep Creek. We need to get together sometime.

You know, it really helps to read ALL of the threads before you put your two cents worth in. I think I have learned that now. I see there are many multi "rivet" members, I feel like a "divot" member. I think I shall stop digging my hole.
My AS number ends with 9762 on the 82/81 rear bath 28' shiney one.

Steve,
Don't let it bother you at all. If I had a penny for every time I've jumped into a thread w/o first getting the whole story... . This is a very friendly and forgiving group . I've screwed things up more than most, and people still are nice to me .
Give me a holler on PM sometime since we live so close together.
Best,

Hi
I have been watching the Airstream Forums for quite a while, and have gotten some really great information from all of you. My husband & I purchased a 1979 24' Excella Motorhome 1 1/2 years ago. We have been told that the VIN/Serial number give a lot of great information. Our VIN ends in 5018. Does that mean that it was the 18th Motorhome that Airstream produced?
Airstream and GM numbers on our 350 are on an aluminum plate pop rivetted to the frame in the passinger side engine service compartment, just above and to the passinger side of the oil dipstick and oil fill
My Airstream # is 1A9TDAP25DJ010123 Mfg, Make, Type: Airstream Class A Motorhome Type: Not Used Series: Sovereign Body Type: Semi-monocoque, 96" narrow body, continuous curved, shiny aluminum Shell, contoured window glass, fames and doors Length: 30’ to less than 31’ Axle Configuration: Double Axle Check Digit: 5 Model Year: 1983 Site of Manufacturer: Jackson Center, Ohio Sequential Number: 010123
I thought that it was a Classic Motorhome. It is round and shinny. A 300 turbo diesel. It has a big metal 300 on the side. I had not seen any 300"s I had seen 290 and 310. I have a rear bath ,middle twin beds, full kitchen, couch hidabed and curbside dining table with benches,
My vin is 1GBKP37W8C3326300
On the Airstream vin site it shows to be a Safari. framed skell wide body.

Am I reading this wrong or do I have an oddball.
I know this won't help in working out this thread, but in a very real sense we ALL have "oddball" vehicles . My 1989 370 doesn't match up perfectly with all the numbers either. I do find your model 300 fascinating, since I've never heard of that length before. Hopefully, someone on the Forum will know more about your vehicle. I'll be watching this thread. Good luck, and thanks for sharing.
Best,
