Does anyone know if DMV goes by the AS VIN or the chassis VIN...I can't remember which they used but thought both were listed on my title.

If the AS VIN is used for registration...theoretically, a slight adjustment to the last several digits of a VIN could lead us to the result of how many AS were made in a particular year. Does anyone have access to CARFAX?...

DMV Vin #

The DMV used the chassis VIN number on mine. Carfax starts with vehicles from 1981 to present. They also require a VIN number with 17 characters.

Post Peas In A Pod

Welcome Bob66789!

Your VIN and mine (5181) are pretty close. Our units might have been on the assembly line at the same time. Interesting to see some of the features in your MH. Mine is a few feet shorter than yours, but I'm curious if what similarities there are anyways. Show us some pics when you get a chance.

Hope you enjoy the forums and get a chance to join us in a Forum Rally sometime. Again, welcome.

Could be brothers!

Thank you LeeMo!

Yes, that is very close! It will be interesting to see the list grow!
My unit is pretty much standard like all the others. It's 28ft long, center bath,
with rear twins. I will try to post some pictures soon. I plan on attending a rally someday.

Thanks again,

Bob

Airstream I'm looking at

79 28' Excella center slpit bath and twins in the back

79 M28A95132

I tried posting to the forum about the MH I'm looking at and it got lost in cyberspace. I'm still debating the buy, I can afford it but won't have a ready repair fund for it if I do and I'm not sure just how risky that is.

Off list, I would love to know why people love this motorhome. Where they have taken them-I couldn't really tell with clearance where all you could go in one. If boondocking, how long can you keep one out? Has anyone tried fulltiming in one-if so how many people and how did you handle the small space over time?

Mine says CPS3793316675 Manufactured by GM. I trust this is the chassis number.

Airstream number

Well just to throw a wrench into it all try this number....
My 1984 was built by the "commercial division" and has the following A/S #
28EJ034214.
The 214 fits in the year range between two units listed but what of the 034 ahead of it?

VIN - Serial Numbers and some history on a 310

My '83 310 was built in '82. It is a rear walk round double bed with bathroom on the drivers side and shower on the door side. Its fitted with the Ice maker, (and some very questionable wiring!)

Numbers for your interest with interpretation as I could find below.

Originally sold to Evelyn Harris , Shreveport LA on 24/11/'82 then to Mr. D. Bethal some time mid 80's, then to CA Poche 1997 and finaly to RM Bartko some time 2004, all the latter from TX. I am still hoping to find out more history. (there may be more PO's?)

I know I am a newbie here, so bear with me please.

Are you talking VIN numbers or is there some mystery number hanging around that no one with out the secret handshake can find?

When you talk about year, are you talking about build date or title year? Sometimes different.

My 28' Excella has a September 1981 build date, but is titled a 1982. If you are talking VIN's, my last four digits are 0478.

Hope this is of some help.

Steve
